I don't understand the fascination with Taylor Ward. A .232/.309/.488 (with a .268 BABIP and a 26% K rate).  He also has a minus 2.7 defensive value. Yea the dude can hit some home runs. But being able to get on base at a .309 clip? Due for massive regression. And a terrible defender.

Ironic though because a guy I work with went to school with him and is really good freinds with him. But I don't get why we'd want him. Seems like some pop off the bench but I wouldn't want him out there every day.

I'd rather go after Ryan O'Hearn and stick him in LF. Jung + Hamm could probably get it done. We don't need to give up our top 5 guys for O'hearn. If we wanted to get crazy then we could look at a package for O'Hearn and Felix Bautista. Then we might be looking at adding in someone like Liranzo or Lee to the previous package. But then you address the Bat and closer without totally sapping your farm team. I think Jung and Hamm will both be very productive MLB players. Liranzo and Lee will too but I think they'd be more average than above average. It can be done.

Not fascinated with TWard myself (but could help). I like your Baltimore package deal. That is on the lines of what could help. Point being we do NOT have to give up a top 4 to  prospect per say, but if getting two players the likes of Liranzo, Jung or Lee could do it for that type return (or similar).

Tigers get:
Tyler Freeland
Ryan McMahon
Juan Meja (Look at his road splits)

Rockies get:
Rainer
Hamm
Jung
Ty Madden

Who says no?

IMHO, I would not give up Rainer for that package.

They need good pitching.

Ha

He was among the top 5 pitchers in baseball down the stretch last year and can pitch out of pen and rotation. I think he is a perfect pitcher for the Tigers, honestly. Take a look at what he did 22, 23, 24.

Take it to the Cubs forum.

Officially throwing this out there:

Tigers get:
Mitch Keller
K'Bryan Hayes
David Bednar
Thomas Harrington

Pirates get:
Rainer
Lirizano
Hamm
Vierling
(Not sure if we'd have to include Ty Madden to balance this out or not)

Tigers get a #3 starter, a 3B (defense wins championships and he's the best defensive 3B in the game which will boost our starters drastically), a closer, and a top pitching prospect (Can probably be brought up in RP role for stretch run).

Pirates get two premium position players, a strong SP prospect and a Utility player to use now. They keep in tact their future rotation of Skenes, Jones, Chandler, Barco (probably best four SP rotation in MLB in 2 years), Heaney with Hamm and another 20+ pitching prospects behind them (they are LOADED in pitching).

That's surprising. Tyler Freeman is a stud. He'd be an amazing table setter for our team. I think it'd be great to get a guy with an OBP above .375 atop our lineup.

I was originally leaning towards Jordan Beck instead of Freeman, but I think Freeman fits our team more "now" and Beck more in the future.

He was good at the end of last year, not so good this year.  He has no velocity, no swing and miss and he's 34.

The league because I don't think the three injured players can be traded.

Ok. What about the Pirates trade offer? (I respect your opinion so I'm really curious your thoughts).

Not sure why the Pirates are giving up a top prospect for a veteran piece and two injured prospects. Seems self-defeating and the type of thing that would cause the Pirates front office to block 313 area codes if offered.

Where do you see Liranzo is hurt?

Tyler Freeman has negative WAR this year. Not sure where "stud" comes from.

Regardless of his injury status, I don’t see the Tigers dealing Rainer.

I think Rainer would be an acceptable cost as a headliner for that type of package. #3 starter, starting 3B (where if he learns how to hit, could become beyond lopsided trade), all star closer and a good pitching prospect. Rainer is a stud. But With McGonigle and now Yost coming up, he's expendable. We can plug some big holes in this trade scenario but we're going to have to pay something. Plus all those guys we get have team control. And on top that, Harrington could be very good as soon as this year. We could call him up now even......

XBA .299, .XSLG .408, WOBA .362, XWOBA .356 - Those are top 20 MLB numbers. He's the definition of a leadoff hitter. Great Arm strength (86th%). It's literally his Range that's pulling him down. You put him in LF at Comerica with Meadows in CF and that becomes moot. He becomes a plus defender there.
