Deleterious Posted March 21, 2025 Posted March 21, 2025 Lawson might be looking for a job by Easter. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 Sprint race at 11PM on a Friday isn't bad. Not sure if I will make it for the 3AM qualifying, though. Quote
Hongbit Posted March 22, 2025 Author Posted March 22, 2025 The first two races have been a disaster for Liam Lawson. Horner passed up on Yuki because his gut told him that Lawson had better championship makeup. Not sure how long RB can afford to go before realizing the mistake and making the switch. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 I saw the interview with Lawson during qualifying. I'm not sure that kid should be in a car right now. He looked and sounded totally lost. Quote

Yuki is not a good teammate and I think that had a lot to do with Lawson being selected over him. Anyone going to Red Bull is going to be second to Max and Yuki has had a lot of trouble in the past playing nice with his teammates. Lawson has show speed and promise just not this year. Give him a couple more races. If he doesn’t pick it up he will be competing with Doohan to see who loses their seat first. Flavio really wants Caliapino in the Alpine. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 23, 2025 Posted March 23, 2025 Being relatively new to F1 I wasn't really aware of the history. I had no clue Ferrari traded away Babe Ruth 100 years ago. Or they kicked that fan out who brought a goat to the track. Or that William Clay Ford was reincarnated and secretly bought the team. Quote

The curse of Binotto. So Ferrari to get both cars DQ for different infractions, both of which rarely ever happen. Edited March 23, 2025 by Hongbit Quote
Deleterious Posted March 23, 2025 Posted March 23, 2025 Not much to say about McLaren. The best car and two talented drivers. Another nice drive for Antonelli. Haas had a good day. Both cars were top 10 even without the DQ's. Bad result for Lawson but hopefully finishing the race will give him some confidence going forward. Quote

So far Antonelli is doing the best of the new drivers. I think he will be pushing George for the number 1 driver designation at Merc by mid season. Lawson didn’t do himself any favors. Still a back marker but he managed to finish. Replacing Newey is impossible so Red Bull could be in a long downhill slide. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 How many drivers does Horner get to hire and fire before people point some fingers at him? Quote
Hongbit Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 This essentially a seasons worth of racing. I knew the gap between Lando and Max was closing. I didn’t realize he was already there. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 Everyone reporting that Yuki is replacing Lawson in Japan. Well, everyone except Red Bull. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Lewis Hamilton sets sights on designing Ferrari road car: The F44 Sort of ironic since I might be the only person on earth that hates the F40. I wonder if it will be a full production run. Or will they just do a one-off like the Omologata Quote
Archie Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 I’m very surprised that Red Bull dumped Lawson so soon. I wonder what they seen in the race data that was so bad and why didn’t they see that last year? Or was it the money that Yuki brings from Japan? I don’t think they will see a big difference in performances with Yuki in the car. I hope Hamilton designs a better car than some of the clothes he designs that look like the he got the fabric from his grandma’s couch. Quote
Deleterious Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 It is way too fast. But it might end up being a great move for Lawson. No pressure, he can just concentrate on driving without 30 reporters asking him why he sucks every day. Max has had 6 different teammates in 3 1/2 years. That is a lot of drivers for a top tier team. Maybe the Red Bull car hasn't been as good as we thought the past few years. Maybe they just have a generational talent that can drive the wheels off of anything he sits in. Quote
Hongbit Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 It was way too soon but it was the right move. Yuki should have had the ride in the first place. I think he’s going do very well in the car. He’s grown a ton as a racer the past few seasons and I’m excited to see him in a car that should be competitive. I’m not sure he’s fighting for podiums but I’m expecting him consistently in that 6-9 area. Don’t think money played much of a role. He would’ve been in the ride ahead of Liam to begin with if that was the case. Sheer panic move afraid of falling too far behind in the constructors. Quote
Deleterious Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 Cant imagine that is the qualifying Red Bull had in mind for Yuki. Quote

With one notable exception, this is yet another reminder that F1 is much more about than car than the driver. That car is obviously trash. Edited April 5, 2025 by Hongbit Quote
Deleterious Posted April 5, 2025 Posted April 5, 2025 Like Alonso said last night. There isn't another driver at the moment who could put that car on pole like Max did. 1 Quote
Deleterious Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 Ferrari and Mercedes have a lot of work to do. Pretty boring race. Other than the pit exit dust up with Max and Lando I can't think of much else happening. Quote
