buddha Posted June 29 Posted June 29 germany dominates the game and loses. the germans havent been any good since they beat brazil 7-1. the next generation never panned out for them. Quote
lordstanley Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Have Germany and Japan ever before suffered a big loss at the same time? 1 Quote
DTroppens Posted June 30 Posted June 30 This could be a fun 30 mins. Netherlands and Morocco tied at 1. Extra time just starting. Quote
DTroppens Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I wasn't thrilled by the WC expansion and around of 32 added but at the very least this tourney has absorbed the added numbers and is producing reasonable matches and drama. All the round of 32 has been one-goal games or a shootout so far. At the very least, expansion hasn't hurt the tourney and, honestly, it's been successful. More matches hasn't bothered me. One-goal round of 32 games make me even happier and wanting more tomorrow and going forward. Quote
DTroppens Posted June 30 Posted June 30 The player of the year in the Eredivisie knocked the Netherlands out of the World Cup. Wow. Quote
lordstanley Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Surely there must be stats that show that stutter steps in the run-up to a penalty has a higher fail rate than just stepping up boldly and hitting it hard. Quote

Not quite the same, but one of the first World Cup I watched a lot of was 1986, and in the classic Brazil-France quarterfinal you'll see at the 4:00 mark a penalty hitting the post but ricocheting off the head of the Brazilian keeper and into the net. John Motson at the mic. Edited June 30 by lordstanley 1 1 Quote

Fortunately for the US, it looks like they arent going to face such a team until the quarterfinals. Looks like Paraguay is a decent team. Quote

RedTeamGo! Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I mean, the US was able to score 4 against Paraguay with Paraguay doing the same thing. Quote
