I realize this is definitely a "first world problems" kind of gripe.  And really, this is just a guy in his mid 40s lamenting about how things were so much better "back in the day."  but, I can't be the only one who feels this way.

Does anybody else   think that the amount of alternate jerseys baseball teams wear in a year is getting ridiculous?  The Tigers aren't quite as bad as some teams that I've seen, but some other teams I feel like I've seen wear like a dozen different jerseys this year.  What ever happened to just a home and away jersey?   Yeah I know that this is all about pushing merchandise sales.  But I see teams playing in uniforms every colour of the rainbow?   The some teams "City Connect" jerseys are some of the most hideous looking things I've ever seen.  Do these hideous jerseys help the sport catch on with younger crowds?  Or is it just about pushing merch sales?

Again as I said, Detroit isn't nearly as bad as some teams in this regard but it's just getting crazy. There seems to be no rhyme or reason what  a team will be wearing on any given day.

I have to admit my thinking on colored uniforms was shaped by my eleven-year-old self. I loved the green, gold, and white A's uniforms, and I still do, but I don't like them on just about any other team.

My problem is when it seems forced. I can see the Red Sox doing their thing on marathon Monday because it’s organic. There’s a direct link and they always played early on that day.  But you can’t force this stuff. I thjnk San Diego did something similar with camo jerseys and that city is almost synonymous with the Navy stuff there. That’s all fine. But don’t force Kansas City and Detroit and the Dodgers into something that’s not immediately evident.

Unique uniforms which help define a team's identity are OK.  Different uniforms every night not so much.

I think the City Connect concept is unnecessary, but whatever, I guess I'm used to it. maybe it would be cooler if they weren't used as frequently (talking about any team, not just the Tigers).

I've also gotten used to other teams having the "regular" alternates with colored jerseys and such, but man, I really don't like it on the Tigers. it's just so jarring to see the dark blue or bright orange, and I keep thinking it's the other team's unis, especially if it's in Detroit and the actual other team is wearing standard road greys.
