It will maybe get them out of the 2nd apron but OKC isn't that concerned with the apron. As a small market team they are more worried about the luxury tax, and that would still leave them about $20 million from getting out of that. IHart will almost certainly be back. Most likely they decline his team option and sign him to a longer, less expensive deal. 2/$40 million, maybe. That saves them $10 million which is like $40 million when you figure luxury tax payments. But if they let IHart go, he would instantly be one of the most sought after free agents on the market. If they did want to move him they would probably pick up his option then trade him, try to find some team with guys who don't have guaranteed contracts. Dort might be gone, but they could do the same thing with him if they wanted. I assume they let him go and Wallace gets a bigger role. I don't see many changes for OKC to be honest. They were in it at the end of game 7 when their all NBA shooting guard only played 55 minutes in the series. His backup only played about 80 minutes. I think they will try to move up for Boozer, but only Utah will listen, and the odds of Utah doing that are very small. If they can't dip out of the tax the summer of 27 or probably 28 is going to look like a yard sale around OKC. No way are they going to pay hundreds of millions a year in luxury tax payments. Quote

I'm not a huge fan of Brown (the person) and his contract is crazy, but a starting perimeter group of Cade, Brown, and Ausar would be insane. You'd probably have to use up all your picks/assets not to get laughed out of the room, so you're stuck with just the MLE and re-signing Tobias in order to fill out the roster. Still, that would be a heck of a "push in all your chips" move to get a second (real) All-NBA player alongside Cade. Quote

Deleterious Posted June 13 Author Posted June 13 Could Atlanta sneak into the Giannis trade and end up as a landing spot for Brown? Another direction for Atlanta would be Trey Murphy. I would give up the #8 pick for him in a heartbeat. I know the feeling was NO wants players who contribute now. But getting back their first round pick this year is probably appealing. All 29 teams are going to be calling if NO is really entertaining offers for Murphy. OKC makes a ton of sense. With his cheap contract they might even be able to keep the big 3 and add him. But they are an apron team and the restrictions that brings to trades doesn't make them impossible, but it makes them a lot harder to execute. Cavs are in the same boat here. What about San Antonio? Fox for Murphy and Herb Jones. Fox on a team trying to win a title is bad. But he could help a team like NO make a playoff push. He is that immediate impact player they are supposedly seeking and he is locked up for 4 more years. SA has extra first round picks coming to them in the next few years. They could toss one or two at NO to lessen the blow of that dumb contract. Would NO be interested in Randle? I'm not a big Randle fan. But Pistons fans think LeVert, Holland, and Sasser will get Murphy then Rrandle should easily do it. I know Minnesota wants to move him. Probably not a good fit with Zion there already. Quote
