03/06/2023 1:05 pm EST Detroit Tigers vs Boston Red Sox
RedRamage replied to casimir's topic in Game Threads
I didn't see the pitch itself, just saw the hitter on the ground. Anyone see the actual hit? Would a "face shield" have helped? -
2023 Detroit Tigers Spring Training Thread
RedRamage replied to RatkoVarda's topic in Detroit Tigers
At what point do we start getting concerned about Tork? I mean, I know it's only Spring Training, and I know that it's only 6 games so far for him, but... 2 hits (both singles) in 16 at bats? 6 strike outs, and no walks? -
2023 Detroit Tigers Spring Training Thread
RedRamage replied to RatkoVarda's topic in Detroit Tigers
Well... I mean this is just one guy saying it so I dunno if I'd say ironclad that the Tigers are "in front" of other teams, but... regardless it's still very, very cool to see that at least one person is saying that the Tigers are doing more/better than others. -
The impending death of Bally Sports
RedRamage replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
I hate to say it... but I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't. And as much as I don't like that stuff if it means the price is more reasonable, I'd be willing to put up with it I guess. -

Definitely sounds like MLB is gonna try and take over. Hope they're able to make it work for a reasonable price. -
FWIW, I very much read your original referenced post as say the Lions wouldn't be big players because you felt they couldn't afford to bring in big names with their cap situation.

I wonder if he'll ask for a per touchdown bonus so he can pay the fines?
-
Stafford made him look good before, maybe he can make it look good again?
-
Yeah, I sorta think the same thing.

https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2023/02/27/rams-jalen-ramsey-trade-peter-king-projection/ Peter King is quoted as saying: I think I'd jump at the option of a 2nd and 4th round pick for Ramsey. If you could do the 55th over all and a 4th from 2024, would you do it?

No, that's incorrect. The definition of not true is NOT a lie. I don't want to go too far down a rabbit hole here in a sports forum, but there are many examples of an incorrect thing being said that isn't a lie. For example... remember the blue and black or white and gold dress? Many people thought it was white and gold. To them it looked white and gold. Was it a lie for them to say it's white and gold? This part I agree 100% with, especially when we're talking about potentially influencing multi-million dollar transactions. What we don't know is how much verifying he did or didn't do. One would hope that he did his due diligence, but the fact that we don't have very many (if any) other sources citing these potentially issues other than those repeating what he said, it does call in to question the validity of his statement.

I would agree with this... Character Concerns connote something far different than not being a gym rat. That said, these "workout concerns" (for lack of a better term) might be even a bigger negative for Campbell than "character concerns." IF it's true that he's not a heavy workout, always trying to improve kinds guy that might be a big red flag for Dan.

Fixed that for you... Also, I don't know I would call it a lie. For all we know McShay has a very reliable, very trustworthy source and 100% believe it to be true. That doesn't mean it is true, but if McShay believes it to be true then it's not a lie.

I don't disagree. But if I include the Browns then at least the Lions aren't the only team to never make the SB.

The impending death of Bally Sports
RedRamage replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
I kinda hope that regional sports networks don't go away... I mean, I like the idea of a one-stop shop for local sports. But the reality is that this is probably disappearing. What would concern me with the NBA, MLB, and NHL teaming up would be that a juggernaut might be able to charge whatever price they want to consumers. I don't want to pay an for a full sports package when what I watch is maybe 140+ games of the Tigers, a handful of Redwings, and nothing else. -
I actually thought about that and dismissed it because I'd be upset with the refs, not the Lions. Perhaps splitting hairs but I wouldn't blame the Lions if they got screwed over on calls.

I tend to trust Risdon... but I'm less sure that I can trust what was told to him. What I mean is that lots and lots of smoke is pushed out so I dunno if this is factual or smoke screen info.

I'd be interested in this as well.

I disagree on the Browns, but that's probably mostly so I feel better about being a Lions fan. I also think it's fitting that the last time the Lions and Browns were both really good they were often competing against each other in the 50s for the league championship.
-
I honestly couldn't be upset with a Lions team that makes it to the super bowl and loses. Obviously I want them to win, but even just getting to the SB means they've tripled their playoff win total in the SB era.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. I don't have super extensive experience with BYU, but I do have a little bit... I visited the campus once for work related reasons. The campus store has (or at least had) a rather large clothing section of non-BYU items simply because there weren't many alternative ways to get more modest clothing, especially for the woman. The marriage rate of students on campus is also much higher than the national average.

Not even slightly shocking to me. Honestly, this sounds like exactly how I would expect a front office to handle this. You're should definitely look at the mocks to get an idea of what buzz it going around and make sure you didn't miss something, but mocks should never, ever be your primary source for decision making. About the only think that mock's might help with is getting an idea of who might be targeting whom when you consider trades. But even then this would be one data point among many.

Panther's draft class: Round 1, Pick 1 – Jarrett Horst – OT- Michigan State Round 2, Pick 8 – Tanner Morgan – QB – Minnesota Round 3, Pick 16 – Santrell Latham – LB – Southern Mississippi Round 4, Pick 24 - DJ Scaife Jr – OL - Miami Round 5, Pick 32 - Dashaun White – LB – Oklahoma Round 6, Pick 40 - Levi Bell – DT – Texas State Round 7, Pick 48 - Gunnar Oakes – TE - Eastern Michigan Round 8, Pick 56 - Andrew Farmer II – OLB - Lane College Round 9, Pick 64 - Chim Okorafor – OT – Benedictine Round 10, Pick 72 – Sidy Sow – G – Eastern Michigan Looks like offensive line was their focus. They need seriously need an upgrade at QB too. I know nothing about Morgan though. Anyone know about him?

Okay, first I agree with everything you said here, so this isn't trying to say that Hock was bad. But, an idea that just popped into my head: Could the reason that our TEs seemed to have so much success after Hock left be because they were inferior talents? What I mean is that Hock was a known threat. He may not have been 'Kelce' level, but he had skills and defenses knew he was a danger and so paid attention to him. Now I'm not saying that defense just forgot about any TE on the Lions roster after Hock left, but I'm also sure that defenses paid a lot less attention to game planning around Mitchell and co. vs. Hock. (Disclaimer here: I am NOT advocating that the Lions should get rid of star talent so defenses underestimate them so they can surprise the opposition. I'm not saying that no-name TEs will work better than a star name. I'm saying in this one instance were a team started out with a TE that defenses had to account for in game planning suddenly loses that TE... maybe opponents were caught off guard a little.)
