  1. Still a bit over a quarter in the Rams @ Colts game, but Stafford hasn't been great. 13/20 for 189 yards... 1 TD, 1 INT.
  2. I think we're all curious how Stafford will do this season... whether you want to see him succeed or fail or just curious how his play will effect the Lions pick, here's a place for discussion of the former Lions QB.
  3. I'm really quite sick of that Meijer ad. 😣
  4. I wanna say it was during the Leyland years... but I can't say for 100% sure. Whether they also allegedly did it turning Morris time I dunno.
  5. So my son through his job got his hands on some short throw projectors that were basically getting thrown out because they were an old model that was taken out of old classrooms. They were headed to the recycle bin. Mounted one of 'em up in my basement. Now I've got a 75" "tv" for watching the game. 🙂
  6. Isn't that what the Twins were alleged to have done? I seem to remember that the Tiger coaches once tapped "steamers" on the big vents to be able to watch when the blowers were on or not.
  7. Starting this thread for @Biff Mayhem cause I know he love the Lions. Honestly, I don't see the Lions winning this. The defense went from bad last week to worse this week from injuries. Rodgers is gonna be pissed from last week. The Packers will put up some huge number of the Lions defense. The only saving grace is that the Packers defense is helmed by none of then Joe Barry... son-in-law of Rod Marinelli. We all remember how bad his defenses were when he was DC for the Lions. So hopefully the Lions can put up some decent numbers too. Again, I don't see any way the Lions win, but I'm hoping they don't make it embarrassing like... 48-9 or something.
  8. Stumbled across this story on MLB.com: The best player in baseball every year since 1969 First of all, it's a bummer that it doesn't go back further in history to include Ty Cobb, but beyond that I was a little disappointed to see that Miggy got no love. 01-04 = Bonds 05-06 = Pujols 07 = ARod 08-11 = Pujols 12-21 = Trout Now, I get the argument that Trout contributes more defensively than Miggy does and there may be some validity to that, but it seems to me that it's an oversight to not give credit to Miggy at least for 2012... you know the year he was the Triple Crown winner and the MVP in the same league that Trout was in? Or perhaps 2013 where he had an even better offensive year stats wise than 2012 and was again MVP in the same league that Trout was in?
  9. Yup. And hey... maybe he is still a defensive wiz. Not all great coordinators make great head coaches. That's one of the reasons I'm hopeful with Campbell. He was an intern HC, and assistant HC, but not a coordinator. That's not to say that being a coordinator isn't good experience, but if you're hired for a HC job because you were a great coordinator, then that might be a problem.
  10. Right now the Tigers are 68 and 76. Obviously they need 13 wins to get to ensure they finish at least .500. Is that doable? Here's the remaining schedule: 2x Brewers (89-55) - Maybe they get one against the Brewers as an NL team doesn't have a standard DH type of player. (1) 4x @ Rays (89-55) - Can we get one... maybe two in Tampa? I'm thinking just 1. (2) 3x White Sox (82-61) - Hosting the White Sox who are still playing for post season position. We'll be lucky to get 1. (3) 3x Royals (65-78) - Hosting Royals, we should be able to get 2 here. (5) 3x @ Twins (63-81) - At the Twinkies and we haven't played well against them this year. I'm going to say 1. (6) 3x @ White Sox (82-61) - Hopefully everything is decided for the White Sox at this point and they're resting. I'll be optimistic and say 2. (8) So predicting only 8. Maybe we'll pick up a few more here or there but I think it's very unlikely we'll hit .500 this year. 😞
  11. Campbell: 41-33 Patricia: 48-17 Caldwell: 35-14 -- a win! Schwartz: 45-27 Four of the last 3 head coaches in Detroit (all three of those being rookie HCs) gave up 40 or more points. Obviously this is very limited data so I'm not trying to draw any specific conclusions from it. Just here this "stat" on a podcast and thought it was interesting.
  12. It's a bit out of date, but still humorous in my humble opinion.
  13. Don't know anything about him... is he a highly thought of prospect? Was there thoughts that he was part of a trade?
  14. I don't expect 3000 this year... I'll be happy to be wrong.
  15. I'd move Urena if you got even a slightly decent offer. I don't think he's a long term option combined with a glut of young pitching coming up.
  16. I mean, it's not like we have a legit of shot of winning, right? Why not just get some experience for the young guys in limited action. We've been outscored 59-26 in ten games. The fact that we actually won two of those games some how defies all logic and reason.
  17. While I applaud your enthusiasm, I seriously doubt that a boycott will get the Fords to sell. The fact of the matter is that most of the revenue NFL teams get is from the media deals. Certainly ticket sales and concessions help, but a loss of those wouldn't be enough to make the team unprofitable (at least in my opinion... I'm certainly not privy to inside information). A boycott would be embarrassing and might prompt ownership to change front office and/or coaching staff. It might prompt them to "restructure" who supposedly in charge of it all. But I seriously doubt it would be enough to drive a sale by itself. There will always be suckers (and I'm looking in the mirror when I say this) that will see changes to the front office or coaching chair as maybe, just maybe, the right move... finally. But even without the fans who always hope for the best, I don't think the current NFL would see a team loss revenue even with a mass boycott. I'd be VERY interested to see the financial reports from last year when in person fans were virtually non-existent. My guess is the NFL still made money.
  18. My mantra for a long time with the Lions has been this: Cautiously optimistic. Generally I like Dan Campbell, but I've seen way too many times where something that appears to be the right direction for the Lions ends up being a complete and total failure. I was cautiously optimistic with Patricia. I was cautiously optimistic with Schwartz and Marinelli. Even Mariucci made me think we where headed in the right direction. I mean we've had HCs who were great coordinators in the past (Schwartz, Patricia), we've had HCs who had some level of previous success as HCs (Mariucci, Ross). We've had coaches who were neither (Marinelli)... So I don't know that there is anything special about Campbell in terms of being unique or different or whatever. What I do like is that he actively wanted to be here as the HC. I feel like it's more than he just wanted a HC job and would take any that came up. I get the feeling that he genuinely wanted to be in Detroit. I also think his attitude fits Detroit. Of course, all this wanted and fitting amounts to nothing if he can't coach. So, do I think he'll be the one to finally break through and make the Lions respectable against? Well... I'm cautiously optimistic.
  19. He been pretty good defensively and showing nicely at the plate too. Contract is for two years too, so it's not just a 3-month rental. I don't think we'd get any super high prospect from him, but I think the Tigers should be able to flip him for something semi-decent at least.
