Umm... I show Sudfeld had at least 6 snaps in 2022, so... I'm only joking... I get what you're saying. I would prefer to have someone other than someone's wasted 6th round pick, but I also don't want to overspend. I'm not opposed to drafting a QB early if they think someone is the next franchise QB (I don't see if with any current players, but I'm also far from an expert). I'm also not opposed to drafting a QB later if they see someone they think could be coached up to be either a competent backup they don't have to pay a lot of money for or even a diamond in the rough that will shock the league. I don't know that I target backup QB in the sense of: "Well, I really would prefer dude-A or dude-B, but I need a backup QB so I guess I'll draft dude-E or dude-F instead." But if at any given point in the draft dude-A or dude-B is a QB, I wouldn't not draft him just because Goff appears to be the QB for now and the near future.

Now that we've got Graham, why not shore up LB and DT with Jordan and Ryan? All positions of need!

Sutton's press conference: Dude sounds more like a coach than a player. Love it.

Here's you can see a video of his comments: https://nypost.com/2023/03/03/cj-stroud-says-he-looked-up-to-deshaun-watson-michael-vick/ FWIW, I think this is all very, very overblown. He said that Vick, as an AA QB inspired him and he thought Vick was underrated as a passer, that Vick showed an AA QB can be a pocket passer. What he didn't say was that he felt his game was similar to Vick. For Watson he said thought his playing style was similar to Watson's style. He did say he looked up to him, but that was right before he talked about the playing style so it seems clear he was referencing that he looked up to his playing style. He also said that Joe Burrow inspired him... that he doesn't actually need to be the fastest guy on the field to still be effective with his athleticism. It may not have been the smartest thing in the world to reference two QBs who had/have major off the field issues, but I think it's very clear in his (very brief) comments that he was talking about their on field actions that inspired and motivated him. I think Stroud kinda got taken out of context because it made such a good headline.

After last year, I want the Lions to volunteer every year. I loved watching Hard Knocks.

I dunno that the Jets have lost all leverage. If GB makes an impossible an impossible ask the Jets can pull away. Yeah, it'll suck for them not having a top name QB and they'll have a very down year, but they could make the argument with their fans that they tried everything to secure Rodgers but GB was unreasonable. Also at this point there's no real issue of some other team moving in and trying to make a bid for Rodgers. And if the trade doesn't get done Rodgers retires. I'm not sure what that does to the Packers cap situation, but at the very least they're not getting anything from him. It's better to get a something from a trade, even if it isn't a kings ransom, than to get nothing. I agree that the Jets are in a weaker negotiating position right now than two weeks ago, but I don't think it's a horrendous situation.

Just because I can... here's another semi-GB related trivia bit: Who did Brett Favre through his first completion to?

Gotcha... I thought you were talking more about people here on the forum.

If I'm the Jets I don't think I'm paying two firsts to Rodgers. The big difference between Rodgers and Stafford is age. When Stafford was traded he was 32. Rodgers is 39 now. It's unlikely you'll get more than a three years, at best, out of Rodgers, and it's also likely that his skills are going to be declining sharply. Maybe the Jets get a SB out of Rodgers and then hey... whatever the cost it was worth it because you got the trophy. But I'm not sure I'm putting that much future assets into a guy who's declining and will be gone soon (not to mention all the off the field weird stuff).

Well, sure... but if we traded Swift then our running backs would be: And clearly having the ability to refer to our RBs with a defunct retail's name is more important than having a good team, so... get it do Holmes!
-
Now that we've signed David Montgomery, I really want the Lions to trade Swift to the Cardinals for Jonathan Ward.
-
I think if the Lions sign Chark it's a bad sign for Jaymo. Jaymo is supposed to be the deep threat and so we shouldn't need Chark on top of him. I'm probably reading too much into it, but if they sign Chark (especially if it's a long contact) that will make be worried about Jaymo.

Has anyone really said they don't like it? I saw a lot of people being surprised and some being disappointed that J-Will won't be coming back, but I don't think anyone said they hated it.
-
"We also could have won more games if we'd only scored more points." Ben Johnson.... probably. Seriously though I suspect it's more than just "break tackles and we get more yards." I suspect it's more like: "We saw too many instances where the first guy to get there brought down the RB... higher than league average."

Two CBs signed, bringing back Cominsky and Buggs... I'm mostly happy.
-
Blow it all up... time to rebuild from scratch. This front off is crap.
-
They already tried this with Stafford but had to abandon it. Not sure if it would work with Goff.

Anyone hear the comments from Holmes on Jaymo? Should be cued up at the right time, but it starts at 5:05 incase the timestamp in the link doesn't work.

2023 Detroit Tigers Spring Training Thread
RedRamage replied to RatkoVarda's topic in Detroit Tigers
Has Jake Rogers every played 1st? I'm still worried about Tork and I'm just wondering if Rogers keeps hitting as well as he has this spring... do you put him at first when Hasse is catching? -
The impending death of Bally Sports

After posting previous I forgot I wanted to touch on this too. I'm starting to wonder what percentage ticket sales are even factoring into revenue. I don't live in Detroit so it's hard to say how much I would or wouldn't make an effort to go to the games if I did, but honestly... I could pay for a ticket, pay for some over priced food, have to deal with the risk of bad weather (rain, heat, cold, etc), pay for parking probably, stand in a bunch of lines for concessions or bathrooms. or I could sit in my comfy chair at home, watch on a big screen TV, get better views than sitting in the stands, have cheap, easy to get good and drinks, my own bathroom, instant reply. No money out of my pocket (unless you count cable or streaming costs). And now, from the team's perspective: How much of that ticket money ends up in their hands? How much of it is used up for overhead to pay for upkeep of the stadium and the employees needed to run the event? -

A lot of good points here, and I think that might part of the reason that baseball keeps trying to expand the playoffs. And it's also why Uniform ads are coming as well (I honestly didn't know about this until stumbling upon it just this morning. The DBacks, RedSox, Reds, Astros, Angels, and Padres will be sporting uniform ads). One advantage baseball has is the number of games. As you mentioned there's some disadvantage to it, but there's also advantages to it. Even if attendance is only, say, 1/5 of for an NFL game, they still have more than 9 times more games. If you're selling streaming service, you can realistically charge more because it's spread over more games. If you charge $162 annually, for example, a consumer can mentally justify that as only $1 per game (even if he or she only ends up watching 90 or so games). I think it would be really interesting to see what the total net profit from each game is when comparing the NFL And MLB. I know that getting that number would be pretty much impossible to do, but it would be really interesting. -

Nothing really new here, but there's a bit more details on how some stuff might maybe shake out: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/mlb-broadcasting-2023-bally-sports-bankruptcy/vk3nf9igd7ph49m9tfckj0o5 -
Holy crap... is CBS playing a weird version of 6-degrees of Kevin Bacon to do their mock drafts? At pick 15 this team will pick this player because the current director of scouting's daughter is best friends with a girl who's mother once dated the uncle of this player's former Special Teams assistant coach from two years ago.
