  1. I think that if you look at it from his point of view, it does seem odd... the problem is that his point of view is to narrowly defined. As a "draft guru" he's looking at it purely from a draft perspective. The Seahawks NEED a QB. Here's a guy who some projected as high as #2 over all, but he fell to the second round. Therefore he's a high ranked player who fills a position of need and therefore he's the perfect fit. Looking PURELY from a draft perspective, it makes sense. The problem is that the Seahawks are obviously looking BEYOND the three days of the draft, Mel Kiper isn't.
  2. While you are very much correct in saying that we won't know for sure until 3 years (or more) down the line, I think it's okay to give a grade now with the understanding that this is how we think things will go but we acknowledge that we'll only really know after a few years of playing. To that end I'm giving it a B grade. I like the Hutch pick... I'm cautiously optimistic on the Williams pick. I'm not a fan of the Paschal pick, not because I don't like Paschal, but feel like we've put SOOO much draft capital in the DL recently. I worry that we're going to lacking in other areas. Joseph seems like a good pickup in a need area. Anything you get out of anyone beyond round 4 I consider a plus. I don't expect them to be stars. A few interesting side notes: 1. The names of this year's picks were pretty tame compared to last year. 2. The only pick that was 'naturally' ours was Hutchinson. All the rest came from other sources: Williams and Paschal from trade with Vikings Joseph, Mitchell and Houston were Compensatory Rodriguez from Seattle Lucas from Saints.
  3. He looks like he could be anywhere from early 20s to mid 40s.
  4. This pick will make or break this draft for us.
  5. From PFF: Paschal has a unique body type for the edge at 6-foot-3 and 278 pounds. He's a leverage demon who lived in opponents' backfields last year en route to a Power Five-leading 12.4% run-stop rate. They had him ranked 44th.
  6. It's second round... this is where the Lions typical swing and miss, so....
  7. Hmm.... that seems like they are overloading a bit on that position.
  8. Figure Ravens will take one of 'em?
  9. If Dean is not there... what about Obajo?
  10. Dean or Willis at this point?? Which would you prefer?
  11. Have decided yet if I like these or not. It's an interesting take and I like the effort. Makes me wonder what they'll do when the draft is in Detroit.
  12. 1. No because I'm not convinced that Willis is really much better than the others. He certainly has some nice abilities, but I don't know that it will translate any better than the other options. 2. It depends on what they give up. Again, I'm not convinced he's a sure thing, but I guess if the Lions are, then do it. Heck, if they're really convinced that Willis is the guy trade the Rams pick next year for someone's second round this year.
  13. I think that's a valid concern. Obviously it's hard to know for sure how things would have shaken up had the Lions not traded up, but it's certainly possible the Lions could have gotten Cine and Dean... that's potentially two starters on defense on day one vs. Williams, who probably won't be starting until Octoberish... What we end up getting tonight will have a major effect on how I end up grading this I guess.
  14. Here's what PFF just did:
  15. So here's the next 14 picks and the next 28 ranked players according to ESPN. Who want to do a 14 pick mock draft?
  16. Yeah, it's not Williams or Cine and Dean... it's Williams and #46 or Cine and Dean... We'll, technically it's or Cine, Dean, and #66.
  17. Logically, emotionlessly, it makes sense to trade with anyone if you think it's the right trade. But fans are rarely logical, rational thinkers (expect us of course). If you trade with a division rival the player the rival gets with the trade ends up having success you have to see that player twice a year. Look, Lions fans still complain about passing on Aaron Donald and he's not even in the our Division.
  18. Lions trade up to #3 and take Thibs.
  19. The pick is in... announce it... that's what we're watching for, not all these idiots to talk about crap.
  20. Pickett is from Loch Arbour, New Jersey. Is it possible for a city name to sound less like it should be in New Jersey than that name?
  21. Weird that it's taking so long... Jags trying for a last minute trade?
  22. What the hell is this Chris Angel crap??
