  1. The "boss" thing became a peeve for me several years ago. Especially young guys working the counter at gas station/convenience stores and places like that. I haven't frequented those type of places since I gave up the M&M habit. I tend to use the term sir and mam a bit when I hang out at the information desks. Maybe these dudes use boss in the same way. I doubt it though.
  2. And how many parents would trust random no accredited “teachers” to watch their kids. They talk about “indoctrinating” their kids now. We won’t even get into insurance issues I guess when you can sweet talk a couple of billionaires to bankroll you you don’t have those issues
  3. As a grandparent, we don't mind helping out once in a while. But when it starts to feel like free labor.... I've been lobbying the past couple of years to let the grandson come visit for a week or so in the summer. It's about an hour direct flight from DTW to Richmond. The airlines still do a decent job with unaccompanied minors . There is more than enough to keep him occupied in CW, Jamestown, Yorktown, not to mention places like NAASA in Hampton. It's also a chance for him to get to know cousins who live fairly close by. He's 12 so the time is growing short.
  4. There is so much wrong with this answer. Most likely Grandma and Grandpa are still working. And if they're not they're still active enough to have lives of their own. Also sharing duties (if possible) leads to more problems than they solve, since one or both sides of the extended family will eventually feel like they got the short end of the deal. In the end both the child, parents and grand parents may find themselves in a family rift.
  5. And now....the rest of the story I think his actions were still wrong. I support the protest, just the way he tried to execute it considering recent circumstances.
  6. Was just reminded what the “truck” actually reminds me of
  7. But we know in reality every litter has its runt
  8. I don’t get this at all. It makes no sense. I have an uncle who was a plumber. That doesn’t mean I’m great at unstopping toilets My dad was a landscaper, I’m great at killing plants
  9. I went to a game there about 10 years ago. It is a nice ballpark, I had good views from left/center field, upper deck. Not a large crowd for a weeknight game against the Brewers. This was my view, my wife was at an event in the in the building behind the billboards. We signaled each other with our phones.
  10. Borrowing a bit from JVL. If we believe the Party of DJT we are living in a hellhole. Yet... https://substack.com/redirect/891faeb7-8f2e-4a7d-9c7a-100b510706d0?j=eyJ1IjoiNDV3Y20ifQ.CggfOU-yqNt6DYIiDeKPBwq9veGlU84UfbYj1_sPDzA
  11. The AMC Gremlin would like a word
  12. This definitely belongs in the Idiocracy thread... As long as I remember school nurses couldn't hand out any drugs without explicit instructions from at least a parent, let alone major surgury.
  13. Or talk about making breakfast for her nieces on a Sunday morning when the President calls
  14. He’s really good at this
  15. Did he just confess again?
  16. A 3:40 start would realistically have the game end shortly after 6, giving you a chance to grab a decent dinner at one of the restaurants near the park. Possibly an adult beverage or two and still get home at a decent hour. Im not sure how it is now but San Diego was once considered a prime spot for retired navy folks.
  17. never mind
  18. Dreaded double post
  19. Shades of the old APBA Baseball for Window computer game. I remember they used Ernie as the "play by play" guy back around 1995. Earnie said it was one of the toughest things he had to do. I don't think he did more than one or two seasons. A few later seasons they patched names together using his voice. Ken Caminiti always sounded strange.
  20. Morristown is on the list. Thanks
  21. So wind is making bacon expensive?.
