  1. Makes sense. Just hope you and others realize I was being a bit sarcastic. (Even though I have tin foil hat questions about wife #1’s encounter with stairs and bigger issues with her resting place. It all seems too convenient for me
  2. We’ve been doing a bit of traveling lately and I’m finding that obtaining a luggage cart is getting more and more challenging as folks have become too lazy to return them to their proper location. I’m thinking hotels need to go the Aldi route or even something similar to what they do (or used to do at DTW). Install a machine that requires a deposit for the cart, you get your money back when it’s returned. No change, they have it at the check in desk for folks who at least stay in some of the longer term places need laundry quarters. if you’re staying at a “boutique” hotel you should expect to pay a bit extra for the cart. There was a time I moonlighted at the car/cab desk at Metro. Down time we would wander the parking decks looking for loose carts. The extra change for the deposit added up to a nice chunk of change.
  3. If I understand the ruling correctly, if Biden wakes up tomorrow and calls one of his Scranton or Delaware “friends” and Trump has an “accident” while golfing, he can be charged. If he makes a “passing comment” to one of his shady generals he should have immunity, outside of possible impeachment. If he resigns the presidency after Trumps “accident”…..
  4. Just spitballing here. Leagues with split seasons? First half ends Saturday?
  5. It’s a kickback to the district court. More delay. I do think the overall ruling makes sense, however
  6. Trump was unable to answer questions truthfully. If you watch clips from some of his rallies he tends to freeze or forget things when the teleprompter dies
  7. Ford chose Nelson Rockefeller as his VP after Nixon's resignation. He then picked Bob Dole as his running mate in 1976
  8. The party can choose a running mate at the convention. He or she would not serve until after they are sworn in in January, if they win.
  9. Playing this out fully. If Biden is considered not capable of running for re-election, what the hell is he doing serving as President? Taking it a step farther, if Biden (Joe or Jill) decide he's unable to continue to govern, Harris becomes President. She'll have to nominate a Vice President, that must be approved by a majority of both houses of Congress. This happened with Nixon and Agnew. That was 50 years ago. I just can't see today's Congress, especially the kindergarten called the House of Representatives, approving anyone Harris would nominate tossing the executive branch and country further into crisis mode.
  10. Could Black Jobs become the next binders full of women?
  11. Nixon was recovering from a knee injury (slammed it with a limo door?) at the time of the debate. He re-injured it entering the TV station in Chicago. He also turned down makeup offered by producer Don Hewitt (later of 60 Minutes fame). The lack of makeup combined with a five o'clock shadow looked bad compared to Kennedy whose preparation for the debate included tanning while on the trail.
  12. It's still June, most folks don't really start paying attention until Labor Day. Who knows by then where Trump will be. (We do, but until the Republican High Council, formerly known as the Supreme Court makes it offical....)
  13. It's a bright red area in a district that flipped blue to red in '22. Keep in mind Trump lite Glen Youngkin (who's at the rally and possibility for VP) won the state in '21. Outside of the DC suburbs, Va is a tossup
  14. He's in my neck of the woods (about 50 miles away, across the Bay) in Chesapeake Va for a rally
  15. But her emails.
  16. Meanwhile it appears we will wait until Monday on the Trump Immunity case. The check is on the RV and taking the scenic route to DC
  17. No argument. Public perception is a big thing. Most historians agree Nixon won his debate with Kennedy in 1960 but most folks focus on Nixon's sweat and his beard. Gerald Ford's "I don't believe Poles consider themselves dominated by the Soviet Union" in 1976. Or Mitt Rodney's " Binders full of women" are moments that get remembered no matter how they performed overall.
  18. From what I'm reading, here's the weird thing. The pundit's at the debate site say it was a different Biden in the spin room than what was presented on stage. If he does continue as a candidate maybe his prep people need to cut back on facts and numbers and more on jabs on Trump. Let Joe be Joe. Let him keep hammering and put DJT on the defensive. I'd also focus his campaign on the team. Trump has billed himself has a great businessman but history has shown his management teams have been complete ****s. The same with his White House staff and cabinet . How many of Trump's "underlings" have been charged with crimes?
  19. Tim Miller on point
  20. TBH we only watched the first few minutes of the "debate". My wife, the former reporter and newsroom manager, had enough and we turned off the tube. It was like watching a train wreck. I spent part of the evening reading Erik Larson's new book on the time between the 1860 presidential election and the attack on Fort Sumpter which was just as depressing (great book, btw). I'm opposed to doing any reactionary actions. We're heading into a major holiday travel week and most uncommitted voters are more focused on heading to the beach, mountains or Up North than two old guys arguing. I'm willing to step back, take a breath, and evaluate the situation from a distance. Bottom line I'm anti Trump, and the main focus should be on the administration. We know what both parties bring to the table outside the guy with the title and Team Biden wins hands down.
  21. Not wanting to start a new thread... Lou Whitaker gets a baseball field named after him.... https://cardinalnews.org/2024/06/28/future-baseball-all-star-lou-whitaker-grew-up-playing-in-this-martinsville-park-now-its-named-after-him/
  22. From my X feed Biden did seem to improve after the first half hour, but how many actually stuck around that long? The optics were horrible in the early going.
