  1. Not a guitar guy but as a midlife sax player I can relate a bit. First of all take a stab at lessons. It will give you some incentive to play and if the teacher has an opening during your daughter's dance class it will give you something to do besides running errands. If it doesn't work out what did you really lose? I've got somewhat the same problem on "practicing". Moving from a house where I could play in the basement to a town home where not only my wife is around but the guy next door works from home. He has his daughter occasionally during the week as well so I don't want to disturb the neighbors. My wife spends most of her workday on conference calls or meetings so there is that as well. I stopped playing a couple of years ago because of dental issues and just starting back in again playing from fake books. Unfortunately this area does not have the community concert band population as Metro Detroit and after asking around a bit starting one here seems to be a heavy lift. I did get the horn out today (she's in Michigan for the week). Now that the weather is warmer maybe it will be some back patio playing. (Until the HOA calls)
  2. I don't think Palin did McCain any favors. I do remember walking thru a hotel lobby in Dublin and seeing it on TV and my wife who fairly much in the know going "who the hell is she". I do believe she cost McCain some votes, along with McCain's actions during the banking meltdown. (Yes Bush was still president but McCain's shutting down his campaign followed by a couple days of perceived dithering lost him several points.)
  3. Her reputation was ruined shortly after McCain put her on the ticket
  4. Maybe they can repeal a few Packers wins over the Lions while they're at it
  5. America first (unless they can get it in bulk and make a profit)
  6. Lucy with the football?
  7. But Antifa, BLM......(oh yes all Democrats are criminals)
  8. Makes sense. I really haven't looked at the 2023 class of QB's. I like the kid from UVa's moxie, just not sure where he would be rated potentially.
  9. I know, unless they were afraid Jacksonville was taking a WR with their second pick. I tend to take these mocks with a grain of salt. There were no trades. In real life I'd be tempted to try to package the second first and the second to move up. Just curious didn't we get the Rams third round pick in the Stafford trade? Every mock I see only has one third. The newer ones do have the compensatory pick in the third, however.
  10. When we lost Rumor's predecessor we had just returned from a work/vacation trip to Denver. the kennel had called us earlier that weekend to say that she had gotten sick. She was 13 and had begun having issues a short while earlier. The day after we put her down I had major surgery and was laid up for about a month. That gave me too much time to surf the net. I found a breeder who used to live in Western Michigan who had moved to Kentucky. I started showing his FB pictures to my wife. After about a month or so of resisting, he posted free delivery to Kalamazoo for his pups.....
  11. Bleacher Report has its first post SB draft out with the Lions taking Thibodeiux, (Jacksonville took Neal). The Lions second pick is a bit of a stretch as they've penciled in Justin Ross. A slew of WRs are off the board. London to the Giants at 7, Olave to the Browns, Jamesin Williams to NO, Burks to NE, Dotson to the Bills and Wilson to the Titans. They have Detroit taking Matt Corral their second round pick. Three QBs were already off the board. Picket to Denver, Ridder to Washington and Willis to Pittsburgh. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2951636-2022-nfl-mock-draft-br-nfl-scouting-depts-post-super-bowl-picks
  12. And never allow you to speak. It's like working in a call center or any public information desk. The customer is seldom right
  13. I think it's becoming a bit more common due to age. I doubt anybody remembers Bill Bishop who worked in Ann Arbor during the '60s and '70s. Did a bit of sports on WAAM, especially Basketball, EMU baseball and hockey. He moved to Hampton Roads in the late 70s to do minor league baseball and was a sports staple in the region. Just before he passed late last year something similar was announced. He died right after the Michigan/OSU game. Prayers of peace for the family.
  14. Filed under things that put a smile on your face. Hot ginger cake just out of the oven from Raleigh Tavern. Fife practice in the background and a leisurely walk down DOG Street on a sunny morning.
  15. Meet Rumor. She's 6 years old and wishes Puggles could fly
  16. I a bit torn on how to take Eric Garland. This thread is worth reading..... Read the whole thing...
  17. If I have to go back to my teenage years.... Tommy James The Rascals Otis Redding Percy Sledge Oh yea, the Stones and 4 guys from Liverpool Actually I've been thinking about this lately. If I had to put together a playlist for a nursing home.....
  18. I neglected to add that it seems the only thing they want to build is a new palace for Dan Snyder to destroy on his own.
  19. I'll play. I used PFN because I like the system better. I do think all of these sims seem a bit dated in their evaluations. 2) Karlaftis. Hutchinson went #1, I'm not completely sold on Thibodeaux. Gut feeling Karlaftis may have a better upside. 32) Nakobe Dean LB. Highest rated LB and player on the board. 34) Perrin Winfrey DT. Once highest rated guy on board. 66) Dotson WR. Highest rated receiver 177) James Mitchell TE. This is a stretch. I debated between him and Barno (Edge) and Haskins. Went with the VT TE because of his perceived versatility. 180) Haskins, he fell this far, was at the top of the board. 218) Mike Rose LB. Highest pick on board 232 Vicent Grey
