  1. But we can't afford the apartment we had in the late 90's. 48th floor catty corner from Holy Name, Lake view (now gone due to new construction). Shortly before we left I found that Paul Konerko lived there right after he was traded to the Sox. A doorman told me a couple other ball players lived there briefly during the season.
  2. I do subscribe to Apple. Most of it is on my phone. I usually stick it on shuffle. Pandora is usually there for my beach music fix. Band of Oz Radio suits my needs.
  3. Eisenhower also wanted to appoint a Catholic to the bench. He reportedly told his Attorney General "I still want to find some fine, prominent Catholic to nominate to the bench" according to historians. William Brennan Jr even confirmed the story in an interview with Irish America magazine after his appointment.
  4. When we lived there 20 plus years ago I found it very walkable. Except for the part of walking between Union Station and the State of Illinois Building. Of course once I hit the Loop, it was deserted after 5 PM. We lived downtown for a couple of years (State and Superior). I had the reverse commute. My wife worked in Streeterville (the old CBS building is no longer, newer parking garage). She could walk to work. We tolerated the North Michigan Ave tourist crowd and busses. Good restaurants in any direction.
  5. I haven't listened to music radio in about 25 years. Don't listen to Spotify, occasionally Pandora. I'm a Boomer
  6. What was the term around the turn of the century? Jobs Americans don't want to do?
  7. For those of us who ever spent time in the business BOOGER!!
  8. That dagnab voting machine looked at me the wrong way
  9. At the very least it would help solve the "worker shortage" MAGAs keep complaining about. Temporarily
  10. He's saying the quiet part out loud. Some people don't like transparency from their leaders
  11. Biden was asked about it on the campaign trail. He gave an honest answer.
  12. Probably not unless you looked between the lines. They both seemed reasonable at first glance.
  13. I'm old enough to remember back in my radio days in the mid 70s to hire an African American to fill an announcer position I had. The major stipulation was that he couldn't "sound black". Fortunately there was a guy looking for work who fit the bill. I went to high school with him and he was the whitest sounding person I knew. Good guy, went on to be a college president at a HBSU briefly. About that time stations were also scrambling to find a female announcer. Our sales staff kept bringing me applicants they found in the local bars. The one I hired and trained was later "promoted" to the "home office"
  14. I'm beginning to think every medicine has that side effect. Especially the level 5 experimental drugs
  15. I think the range is fairly close to the election outcome. The blowback from school administrators is the big key. One note, unlike places like Michigan (and to a certain extent Illinois) school districts for the most part follow city or county lines. One district per localities. Cities are mostly independent from the counties. Even the deep red localities have pushed back on his "orders". The Attorney General is much worse. His recent wave of firing lawyers coincides with his mandates to state colleges, giving them little leverage to challenge in court. Also to MT's question last night, there is a recall, it has to go thru the courts and not the ballot box (I don't oppose that, not a big fan of recalls.) They would need a legal reason besides incompetence to remove him Governors are also term limited to one term. They can run again after sitting out a term. it's been that way since King George.
  16. Congress did pass an infrastructure bill that includes money for bridges late last year. Build Back Better is a different animal. This young lady wouldn't have even survived a small market TV newsroom in the '70s and '80s
  17. That didn't take long https://coronaviruswarroom.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/VAPOC-CVWRMemoResultsJan22.pdf
  18. And yet the Trump kids dealings with China (see Ivanka's Chinese licenses for whatever clothing and other lines she had), Russia and other countries where they are still (I assume) trying to do real estate deals (between acting as advisors to their father, even though they could not get security clearance thru proper channels) don't phase you at all. https://www.vox.com/21527215/hunter-biden-jared-ivanka-eric-don-junior
  19. Mike Greenburg still has the old SCORE in his blood
  20. Ford Frick was once Baseball Commissioner. I definitely smell a conspiracy...
  21. More leadership from the Va wing of the Know Nothing Party
  22. Looking at her bio, it looks like she spent a lot of time in SC. I would bet on the Braves. They could be her second team however.
