  1. Biden was asked about it on the campaign trail. He gave an honest answer.
  2. Probably not unless you looked between the lines. They both seemed reasonable at first glance.
  3. I'm old enough to remember back in my radio days in the mid 70s to hire an African American to fill an announcer position I had. The major stipulation was that he couldn't "sound black". Fortunately there was a guy looking for work who fit the bill. I went to high school with him and he was the whitest sounding person I knew. Good guy, went on to be a college president at a HBSU briefly. About that time stations were also scrambling to find a female announcer. Our sales staff kept bringing me applicants they found in the local bars. The one I hired and trained was later "promoted" to the "home office"
  4. I'm beginning to think every medicine has that side effect. Especially the level 5 experimental drugs
  5. I think the range is fairly close to the election outcome. The blowback from school administrators is the big key. One note, unlike places like Michigan (and to a certain extent Illinois) school districts for the most part follow city or county lines. One district per localities. Cities are mostly independent from the counties. Even the deep red localities have pushed back on his "orders". The Attorney General is much worse. His recent wave of firing lawyers coincides with his mandates to state colleges, giving them little leverage to challenge in court. Also to MT's question last night, there is a recall, it has to go thru the courts and not the ballot box (I don't oppose that, not a big fan of recalls.) They would need a legal reason besides incompetence to remove him Governors are also term limited to one term. They can run again after sitting out a term. it's been that way since King George.
  6. Congress did pass an infrastructure bill that includes money for bridges late last year. Build Back Better is a different animal. This young lady wouldn't have even survived a small market TV newsroom in the '70s and '80s
  7. That didn't take long https://coronaviruswarroom.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/VAPOC-CVWRMemoResultsJan22.pdf
  8. And yet the Trump kids dealings with China (see Ivanka's Chinese licenses for whatever clothing and other lines she had), Russia and other countries where they are still (I assume) trying to do real estate deals (between acting as advisors to their father, even though they could not get security clearance thru proper channels) don't phase you at all. https://www.vox.com/21527215/hunter-biden-jared-ivanka-eric-don-junior
  9. Mike Greenburg still has the old SCORE in his blood
  10. Ford Frick was once Baseball Commissioner. I definitely smell a conspiracy...
  11. More leadership from the Va wing of the Know Nothing Party
  12. Looking at her bio, it looks like she spent a lot of time in SC. I would bet on the Braves. They could be her second team however.
  13. NYT is reporting that Rep Clyburn is suggesting J Michelle Childs
  14. But doing something like that might boarder on teaching critical thinking. And we know we can’t allow that.
  15. Early betting is on Ketjanti Brown Jackson She clerked for Breyer and was reportedly on Obama's short list last time around.
  16. I can only go by second or third hand knowledge, but the charter schools in Detroit are not much better than the public system. It only gives parents whose kids who have been expelled from one school to go on to another one. Or if a parent doesn’t like a particular teacher to move on. It seem to have created a lot of school shopping and not much real learning
  17. Since the tipping discussion is in the late forum…. I’m finding myself sitting in a car wash while the car is being detailed with no small bills in my wallet. Feeling like a jerk
  18. I’ve got three teachers and 1 school administrator in the family. From what I can tell between the absent parents, over active parents and politicians (whose kids attend private schools, both in and out of state) their job is near impossible. The GOP plan seems to be destroy public schools, issue vouchers, and funnel money to their big businesses buddies in education
  19. Great response to the NF column. Take some time and read the whole thread
  20. I'm going to complain about the local schools teaching Arabic numerals in grade school.
  21. Some very fine people.
  22. When Nolan Finley thinks you're nuts Waiting for resident Trumpers' excuses....
