The USSS have some issues with their leadership that appeared to have been corrupted by the Trump people. I personally witnessed multiple agents offered security jobs at casinos during the 45 admin. And that probably is the best place to land if you are in the USSS protective service guy, since the actual job sucks eggs. Yeah, I see the tensions caused by the private/public divide also playing out across the rest of the US national security community. A lot of people who shouldn't be contractors (lack degree but somehow got a clearance) are, a lot of people who should be unemployed (drunk, abusive, incompetent) are federal employees. Its not a perfect system for sure. But the USSS has some darkness to shine some light upon.
What will really make this untenable is when its all ideological and based only upon fealty to the Leader.
