  1. They appear to have addressed Fenton-ill. They also address the fact that Panda Express really should reduce the amount of cabbage in their lo-mein. I think they also said that their military should be more confident.
  2. Morning Joe started off with the first block all about the meeting.
  3. Huge, probably watershed event today in San Francisco. It will be very interesting what each leader leads with in discussion. If Biden starts with human rights you know this thing is off to a bad start. If Xi starts with Taiwan likewise. Hopefully, they are both tracking towards normalization of relations and what were known in the Cold War as confidence-building measures.
  4. That's why he had Univision take down all the Biden ads.
  5. This song. Stumbled across again today. Album released in 1989, the annus mirabulus of the second half of the 20th century. Was prior to the great events of the second half of the year as i recall. In the context of all those millions suddenly becoming free and others thinking they might be (China)…the song is very prescient.
  6. kidding but not kidding
  7. Can totally buy the Japan hatred. Japan came by the hatred through a lot of evil deeds. Japan becoming a foreign policy backstop against China in the South China Sea is welcome but not without having to carefully navigate this negative past. Weird thing about Taiwan is that the US joint chiefs during WWII argued that invading Formosa would put them in a country that Japan had successfully colonized, and the population would be more hostile than the Philippine population which was perceived to be still warm toward the United States -- as it turned out to be. Now, you would be hard pressed to see any semblance of Japan in Formosa/Taiwan after 7 decades of KMT rule.
  8. Have you been since COVID yet? I'd be interested in any delta in government or societal behaviors from pre-Covid to post-Covid. e.g., are they more inward looking, do they paint the outside as all a bunch of devil wreckers? Degree to which that may have amped up or not.
  9. But who cares about reality when ESPN is driving the B1G bus even without the broadcasting contract.
  10. Would that more people objected.
  11. Actually... does anyone here actually have travel experience to China? I would think that Detroit-oriented group like this one would given all the business interconnectedness. I'd be curious that perspective.
  12. Sherrone Moore will make a great coach at a service academy. :--)
  13. Now imagine what happens when Desantis has the heads of Disney murdered or sent to a reeducation camp where their families are threatened until he gets them to modify their views to something more amenable to the prevailing doctrine.
  14. Wikipedia tells me that B1G is 61% owned by Foxsports and 39% owned by B1G.
  15. Isaiah Hole discussed how apparently Mark Silverman the COO of Fox Sports is really angry at how the B1G gave the scoop about Harbaugh suspension to ESPN before U-M (and more importantly from his business' perspective Foxsports). Isn't B1G network a subsidiary of Foxsports?
  16. Brian Fuller does a great job describing how amazing Sherrone Moore did. https://mgoblog.com/content/i-have-emerged-steaming-ancient-ice but this was really my favorite part
  17. for reference
  18. Or a rando in a piston's jersey like Eminem did when he won the Oscar for best song for "Lose Yourself"
  19. Jack Ma would disagree with any comp with the US. He couldn't say that he disagrees but...
  20. I have to say the happy calls by Detroit PBP guys named Dan are quite great. We might need to rename Jason Benetti.
  21. Ditto. Why should Michigan change from this level of success?
  22. @noclador @Maks_NAFO_FELLA @NOELreports @michaeldweiss @general_ben @wartranslated Some others as well. If you are looking for war headlines in a newspaper. https://www.rferl.org/. US funded Radio Free Europe (not just an REM song) https://www.dw.com/en/russias-war-in-ukraine/t-60931789 German funded Deutch Welle https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/ukraine-russia/ Washington Post's dedicated page for war coverage. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/12/russia-ukraine-war-at-a-glance-what-we-know-on-day-627 The former Manchester Guardian which while remaining the ****s who paid Glenn Greenwald to propagate the Russian Snowden operation do have good coverage of Putin's invasion. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-60525350 The Beeb...venerable but reliable.
  23. This was probably said somewhere in this thread up toward the March/April 2022 time frame when the Russians had to pull back from their over-extended lines. Sun Tzu has some quote about Strategy without Tactics are the slowest route to victory. I've heard it in other context as "Strategy without Tactics are bloody minded." If your only plan is to get through the wall and you don't learn how to climb it you will break your nose trying to get through the wall. Basically, you are drawing arrows on the map without regard to how things occur. Tactics without Strategy on the other hand are futile. E.g., Its great you know how to engage the North Vietnamese with your helicopter-based forces backed with all sorts of airpower and firebases with accurate artillery fires, but is just killing NVA forces really a way to counter North Vietnamese war aims?
  24. I'm very interested to see the degree to which CMU's coaching staff were working with Stalions. I think its going to be a very dirty bandage when it gets ripped off the degree to which these scumbag hypocrites around the college football are gonna be burned by this.
  25. USC/Oregon is just starting now? Its 10:30 at night.
