  1. First Nolan movie since the Batman movies. I'd bet Memento or Insomnia would be weird on that screen
  2. I can imagine the bomb test scene would be a "wow" in an IMAX theater and some of the scenery of New Mexico might be similarly amazing but, you probably should save your gas.
  3. Episode 7 of The Bear Season 2 (the Christmas episode) is a grind. My wife and I had to hug it out to calm our PTSD. EDIT: This is episode 6 i am referring to. Episode 7 is very good and features Olivia Coleman.
  4. Saw about half of the first episode. I wouldn't describe this as landmark television worthy of cancelling your plans for whatever night its on. I'll try to power through that episode tonight. I'm not sure this is worth the effort. Basically, there have not been good Detroit depictions in TVs and Movies since The Great and Powerful Oz which was metaphorically about Detroit.
  5. My observation is this is the first Nolan movie i can say that doesn't benefit too much from IMAX. The smaller theater I saw it in was just fine.
  6. Poland may not know karate but they do know Karazy
  7. Daym GURL! Love it.
  8. Something was up at one of the DC courthouses. Apparently the mentally unstable seditious former President was posting all manner of social media about it.
  9. I don't think I ever spent the extra couple bucks for any of the Japanese pressings. Don't know why.
  10. What was not solid were the previews that went on for 30 minutes describing a pile of hot flaming crap. The prestige movies apparently didn't need to advertise. Sad, because I was raring to see Dune 2 after Oppenheimer -- not some recycled Disney ride inspired movie.
  11. Oppenheimer was solid.
  12. Yes for sure. I do know that when I had a very nice [insert brand name] rack system back in the day I could definitely tell the difference between brands of speakers. My [brand] studio monitors were better than some jive [brand] loudspeakers. The quality of production mattered too. We definitely thought that certain bands had higher quality of production. Not to get into specifics because what I thought was good wasn't the absolute audiophile stuff but I had good stuff for what a GI on enlisted pay could get if he saved all his pennies, didn't fly home to the US more than once a year, and only drank so much.
  13. Someone is paid to engage
  14. Worship of strength is one of the phenomena behind the appeal of fascism.
  15. One of the biggest challenges is how much hardware we have to hold back to stave off the invasion of Taiwan. I really wish we could provide two more Patriot units to Ukraine. They will be critical against the PRC though.
  16. Everyday I learn something more about WWII and I've been reading about it for 50 years.
  17. This series is the cold shower
  18. Hardly the stuff of international crisis but still shows the Poles are pushing Vladdy.
  19. Lets go get Verlander
  20. The boomers grew up conditioned to have it all their way.
  21. well, there is the digital compression issue. There is also the issue that for most of us, our ears are not that trained to hear a difference in high end audio. My interest was academic. I just had that memory of making a special trip to the store in Ann Arbor from Livonia and seeing those "magic" Japanese pressings.
  22. Oh, I missed this Just make that Oh HIMARS.
  23. Well, there was this one time in Syria...when they faced the US Air Force, Army aviation and a slew of MQ-9 Reaper drones. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Khasham

  25. The Suwalki corridor. Yeah...it would be Art 5 and no amount of BS would protect Putin.
