  1. I keep hearing the "where was Europe when Syria....et.al., " I think that's valid. But, consider... Turkey was right next to Syria and they reacted harshly to Russia. With their own megalomaniac's leader doing that response all in Turkey's self interest but they could see it first hand. They responded by helping Azerbaijan in its war against Russian proxie Armenia.
  2. Sorry for another thread. this was interesting. Has some warnings about over confidence.
  3. Heck of a thread for understanding the heavy use of the VDV (the adrenaline junkies I may have mentioned in other posts)
  4. He's going to use every trick in his book. He won't be able to hide the atrocities this time because he's doing all this to a sympathetic target with charismatic victims.
  5. More to the agenda of the meeting
  6. This is just past the point of being surprising at this point. We already know all this.
  7. A couple evil yucks at the expense of the Russian army
  8. Per my friend who was a nuclear officer on a US Navy fast attack sub, he says the plant is not an RBMK reactor (like Chernobyl) but is closer to Fukishima. He says that kind of plant has but one weak point. So, I ask him "is the weak point that Russia is ruled by an asshole?" He responds: "So, two weak points. Because that reactor type needs active cooling when its shut down hence diesel generators." That's all greek to me as a non-expert. But you get the main point that its not a crazy precipice of danger. Its the kind of danger that could grow if Putin decides to not call off his forces and they attack the cooling tower or something.
  9. Per some other sources, the plant's training facility is on fire.
  10. Now that Putin is attacking a nuclear power plant we can answer Sting's question about if the (or the one that matters) Russians love their children too. Goddamn you vladdie.
  11. Looks like NATO + Sweden and Finland meeting tomorrow.
  12. Noticing on my bigger screen at home that these dudes have tactical comms like US armed forces have. They appear to have the sort of knee protection you need for urban combat. Their rifles appear to be AK pattern but have after-market composite stocks. These guys are well equipped. They appear to be 1st line infantry at least. EDIT: No duh moment. The original tweet translates as
  13. Lets say that you'll hear about some of this soon enough. Casualty figures are dramatically higher than what Russia is claiming.
  14. Ok, heard some amazing things about the degree to which Russia is getting mauled. Its not going well for them.
  15. VDV is the airborne troops. These are the Russian forces that are trying to fight.
  16. This is a Russian Air Defense system that was coming online just as I left active duty. We were very afraid of these.
  17. This cannot be real I had heard that Belarus was the worst military in Europe but this is appalling.
  18. Hearts and minds . . .
  19. This is a demonstration of warfighting capability make no mistake. if russia tried to do a tactical road march this distance it would result in 80% of the convoy being left on the side of the road.
