  1. Was it Gibbs' fumble that turned the Lions off the run? Or was it the fact that after that and the ensuing TD the Lions were no longer playing from ahead? 21 runs in the 1st half, 8 in the 2nd half. I still can't get over what a thing of beauty the first half was. Offensive line stout, backs (and receivers in Jameson Williams' case) breaking off long gains, running wide, backbreaking (to Niners fans) 3rd down conversions including a run on 3rd and 11 I believe? I wasn't counting chickens at halftime, but man, the Niners and the stadium felt defeated. The 4th and 2 fail seemed like it might be just a blip, it wasn't until the Aiyuk Fluke (as post-game Niners talk radio was dubbing it) that the crowd really came back. I was hearing comments like "I thought the Packers game was a fluke, but I guess this is who we are" and "The Lions have as many studs as we do, how do we come back from this" and "How were we so unprepared" and "Bigger hole than against the Packers, to a team that is better than the Packers". Third NFC title game in a row, no Super Bowl win since 1994, playing at home as the #1 seed, a gazillion All Pros in the Niners' lineback ...and the Lions came out and blew the doors off of them for a full 30 minutes. They were not happy campers, about one more 3rd quarter Lions score from turning nasty. I still think the 1st half was more remarkable and unexpected than the 2nd half.
  2. Plus the one midway through the 3rd would have shortened the game by a couple minutes or more. Reynolds makes that catch like he should have and even if the drive had stalled after that the Lions would have given the ball back up 17 (because now it would have been easy field goal range) with only 3-5 minutes left in the 3rd. Exactly like at halftime but now with 2/3 of the 3rd quarter burned. And the one in the 4th, instead of giving the ball back at best tied with 7 minutes to go, a conversion on 4th and 3 would have set up a chance at a TD to go up 4 with under 5 minutes to go. Campbell!’S worst call was running on 3rd and goal with a minute to go, forcing the Lions to use a timeout and taking a Niners 3 and out out of the equation.
  3. Still the most thrilling sports event and environment I’ve ever been part of. Haven’t read comments yet!
  4. This is really happening. This is not a drill. This is not a test of the emergency broadcast system.
  5. If they hassle me, I will smile. But if they bump me, i will bite a kneecap. And if they knock me down, I will bite another kneecap.
  6. 13 people in Lions gear on this flight. Not bad considering the flight is from Vancouver and only has around 140 passengers total. This game is like a reverse diaspora.
  7. Wings solidly in wildcard position now, even allowing for games in hand of a couple of the pursuers
  8. Wings locked it down after this. Empty netter makes it 5-2 Wings. Goals tonight from Larkin, Walman, Veleno, Copp and Larkin again.
  9. Could be a high-scoring game. 2-0 Wings lead quickly evaporates. Now tied at 2.
  10. Yes, I forget what the reason, but announced it a couple of days ago I believe. Larkin scores career goal #200 to give Wings 1-0 lead.
  11. Philly lost their 5th straight, getting thumped by Boston 6-2 today. Too early to scoreboard watch. But if they drop out not only the Metro top 3 but also the wildcard spot, a team like NYI or NJD or Washington could take their place without knocking out the Wings. They're now 1 pt ahead of the Wings, with the Wings having 2 games in hand.
  12. I'm not flying in until tomorrow morning, but I wonder if there's quite a few Lions fans staying at one of the major Great America hotels tonight. I'll be in Row 9 of Section 230, wearing this blue hoodie
  13. Danielson was throwing, that's for sure ...often to the Niners! 5 INTs that day. I wonder if that's a playoff record.
  14. And if they ask where I'm staying in the city, I'll tell them I've heard free camping is available.
  15. Watch this if you dare (viewable if you click the "Watch on YouTube" line). How cathartic would it be if the Lions win tomorrow on a Badgley walkoff.
  16. I expect it will literally take me less time from Vancouver liftoff to SFO touch down (2h 20min) than it will take from SFO tarmac to Levi's. Remarkable how far out it is. I have a rental car reservation and will probably fulfill it and drive to Mountain View station and take the VTA from there, only going by what I've read online.
  17. This time will be a quick 24 hour trip for me but I've been to the Bay Area several times before and totally agree with you about the sights. One of the most memorable sporting days I've ever had as a participant rather than as a spectator was 13 year ago running the Miwok 100k ultramarathon. Took me a bit over 13 hours in the middle of the pack. Stinson Beach start at 5am, Muir Beach, sunrise view looking down at the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands, a big cat plonking itself in front of the table at the final aid station causing us to wisely bypass it (locals knew whether it was a cougar or bobcat or mountain lion but I forget which), etc. Glorious. https://miwok100k.com/course/
  18. If you want to see a tremendous, albeit rare, display of Lions fan joy, check out 1:02:13 to 1:03:36 of this clip from 53 years ago
  19. Everyone's welcome on the Lions Express, even a toothless Hooker.
  20. Look who is doing the halftime show on Sunday. How much you wanna get they will change the words from South Detroit?
