2024 DETROIT TIGERS REGULAR SEASON THREAD
Motor City Sonics replied to chasfh's topic in Detroit Tigers
I heard AJ's response to Jeff Rigor's question about his team not competing. AJ got a bit pissy with it and try to come up with this convoluted reasoning on what "competing" is. It's pretty simple. Were you really even in any of the games after the first 3 innings? Pretty much No. Don't get angry at Rigor. As much as he can stir things up a little bit - he's actually not afraid to ask questions the fans might want to ask. He's the opposite of Craig Monroe's kissing up. Team hasn't been competitive. The Arizona games were an anomaly. This team has been hot garbage for pretty much a month and many of the players seem to be regressing........steeply. What's going on, Skip? When does the great AJ Hinch start taking more responsibility for all this floundering? It ain't just the roster. Supposed to coach them up. We should be seeing some gradual improvement. I'm not seeing that at all. -
2024 DETROIT TIGERS REGULAR SEASON THREAD
Motor City Sonics replied to chasfh's topic in Detroit Tigers
Anyone have video of Alex Lange's meltdown? I haven't been watching this week (I won't watch them if all they're going to do is piss me off). -
3 hits today. But - the hitting approach and hitting coaches are just fine. No need to make changes. Everything's just fine.
-
This fart noise of a May continues on. For those of you that say "they're only a few games out of a Wild Card". Are you actually watching them play? This team is closer to a Top 10 draft pick than a playoff game. Again.

Dallas has a very real chance of having 3 titles at one time But the Cowboys are still kings in Dallas. Antonio Brown is bankrupt - and not just morally. I think the vast majority of us saw this coming. $80 million dollar career. Not a great guy to begin with - but he is one of the poster children for CTE. It will not be a happy ending for Antonio. Much as I don't like him, I do feel sorry for him. Nobody in his life with the power or ability to say NO. Even Iverson had people protecting some of his money. But Iverson is just a jackass, he doesn't have a brain injury. I went through a bankruptcy in 2010. But I never made $80 million dollars and most of the debt was medical/dental - not toys. I'll give AB some credit, he's poking fun at himself on social media

But people say Look how much a burger meal costs at McDonald's. That's the economy right there. That's it. It's stupid and simplistic, but we now live in a society where Scientists and people who read books are elitist snobs and Joe Bob from the internet knows more than your doctor. Mike Judge is a modern-day Nostradamus. He nailed it. It's exactly where this is all going, only a lot faster than he thought.
-
The problem is that as the season goes it, guys are regressing, not improving. That IS on Hinch and his staff. Not that he'll get fired, but I am not seeing improvement. Since the 5-0 start. 18-26 after that 5-0 start. I expected better. I expected better than half this lineup hitting under .200. There should be some improvement in some of these guys. And I just feel like Wenceel Perez won't last. And sadly, he's been their best overall player and that is very unacceptable. I feel like this horrible coaching staff are going to end up getting this guy overthinking everything like they seem to have with Tork and Greene.

They only get to play the White Sox so many more times.
-
Wow. Season just ended this week. The rest is pointless. Again before Memorial Day. Couldn't even get us to the 4th of July. How many years in a row is this team going to be out of it before the first day of Summer. Yeah, yeah, I know "evaluation" "rebuilding" "young team". Sorry, I'm ****ing sick of it.
-
Starting to think the Diamondbacks pitchers were tipping their pitches or something. Total anomaly last weekend.
-
Are they giving Tork TOO MUCH advice?
-
The saving grace for Avila is the fact that we also had Matt Millen and Troy Weaver around the same time he was here and compared to those to he's not so bad, but he was pretty bad...............as we watch the Royals pass us by. Please don't let this happen with the White Sox. Harris gets 4 years with me before I say much of anything. Seems pretty clear that the big spending days of Mr. I are long gone, so in order for this team to be good they have to draft very well and we won't know until 2026 at the earliest, especially with him taking a high school pick in his first draft with the Tigers. If we aren't seeing clear indications that that first class of his is showing promise by 2026, I'm gonna be pretty pessimistic on Harris.
-
He's been pretty good for a guy that didn't pitch in an actual game for two years. He's not all the way back yet, I bet that takes the whole season, but the way he's pitched has been very encouraging. This team gets just two halfway decent hitters next year with Skubal-Olson-Mize and they should be a contender. The voice of Lou Brown sayin "We might have a couple of All-Stars" is in my head. The only thing in the way of Skubal being THE Cy-Young favourite is Seth Lugo, and based on his career, I think his pixie dust will start to run out soon. I don't think Skubal has peaked yet. Just stay healthy, young man. Is Olson a current version of Jeff Robinson or Willie Blair with the out-of-nowhere great year? I think Mize could be as good as Petry in his best years. What about Jackson Jobe? It sure doesn't seem like he's on pace to be in the majors before 2026. Glad it's a hamstring injury and not his arm, but even before that it seemed like they are babying him a bit. I just feel like they should go ahead and pitch him and if he needs TJ - then go ahead and get it now.
-
The frustrating part is that they are 23-24, but if their hitting was just simply a little below average, they could really be something like 29-18. The pitching's been brilliant, but that offense is so inexcusably bad. That's why they frustrate me so much. I mean, getting shut out twice in a row by the worst team in baseball? That's infuriating. Plus we still can't beat the ****ing Oakland A's.
-
I saw an article about teams that have had great starting pitching and how rare that is this year. The Tigers weren't mentioned. That's what I mean by obscurity.
-
What is so frustrating is while we sank to obscurity the Royals got to the World Series twice, won it once, broke up their team, sunk to the bottom and have now passed us again as we continue to languish in obscurity. It's a true indictment of Al Avila's incompetence. Harris doesn't own anything yet. 2026 is the year I start really evaluation what he's doing.
-
The absolute nightmare scenario for MLB. This along with the Xfinity fiasco, and the avalanche of injuries.............things aren't going well for baseball right now.
-
Just people that can't get into Dodgers games or there to see the road team.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Eventually. They won't trade them this year (unless they think there's a good chance of future injury. -
Is Anthony Rendon the worst contract in baseball history? He's back on the 60 day DL and makes the comment that baseball is not a priority to him. If the Angels had fans, they'd hate him.
-
How intense is game 7 going to be? I want the winner of this series to win the Cup. Canada needs this !

We're gonna trade him. We'll trade Riley and Olson too. We're gonna be the new Rays. Better hope they draft very well. -

I would be cool with the Tigers petitioning playing their home games at Chase Field.
