Yep. All were great stories, too I remember the 1977 Yearbook with the 3 big stars on the cover. You know what. 12 game lead (after Cleveland loses tonight). You have Greene-Meadows-Perez-Vierling for your Outfield. Let him heal up. Why even bother bringing him back before the All Star Game. We'll need him for the stretch run. When is Reese coming back? For one of the games tomorrow? It's about his turn, isn't it? -
This weekend on 107.1 (stylized as 107one in Ann Arbor) we are doing a celebration of Back To The Future. It turns 40 on 7/3 and at 8am (the time when the movie starts) - -every hour we are featuring a different year (in random order, starting with 1985, of course). It's the Time Travel Weekend. We're covering 1980-2025 and the key to a special weekend like this is playing a lot of OH WOW songs that people don't hear much, but were huge in their day. This is a massive undertaking, as we are a small station, with basically two people doing all the grunt work - and this has been 80% on me, (curating the playlist, finding and loading the music, writing and producing all the between-song imaging). because it was my idea and I am the Program Director. Our station has never really done a specialty weekend like this before (because we're such a small staff. But, it should be a fun listen, if you're looking for something a little different. Anyway, I am putting together the songs for 1999 and came across this one-hit novelty song and as I was loading it into our system this morning, I found this incredibly moving, even though I had heard it 1,000 times, but not for over a decade. Maybe it's because I am 60 now and regretting a lot of things that personal fears prevented me from doing. I hate fear. It can be all-consuming. Can't get the years back. I just wish I approached things then with the "who gives a f what anyone else thinks" attitude I have now. Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of '99: Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience. Hi there. Only rule is that a moment can't be a whole season. It's got to be a play or maybe a game. I am absolutely positive I will think of 10 more after I hit SUBMIT TOPIC I have 4 and then 50 honorable mentions. So, in no particular order Kirk Gibson's Game 5 Home Run in 1984. A lot of people think that was a walk-off or that it gave us the lead. I know almost all of you know the team was leading 5-4. That HR just clinched it. It was the first Detroit championship in my memory (I was 3 in 1968) Vinnie Johnson :00.7 (Because I can't remember one single moment from their first title the year before). I was living in Florida at the time, so not around a bunch of Piston fans. But I was watching with my roommate and the Pistons were losing that game by something like 7 points with less than 2 minutes and they called a timeout and I said "they're gonna win this thing tonight". There was just something about the look on their faces during that timeout. Red Wings vs. Avs March 26, 1997. REVENGE! Not only did McCarty destroy Lemieux, he scored the winner on OT. That was the night the Wings really won the Stanley Cup. There was no stopping them after that. Magglio's Walk-Off Pennant-Clinching game. After 19 years of pretty dismal baseball, all the disappointment went poof in one moment. All he needed was a single, but where's the drama in that?

Okay, it is one of the cringiest things ever, but Sembello was one hell of a session guitarist - worked on some of Stevie Wonder's best stuff. Michael submitted a tape with several songs to the producers of Flashdance and they hated all of them and he had one song on the tape that he never erased and it was about a serial killer. They loved that one and asked him to change the lyrics a bit and bam - accidental #1 song. I LOVE stories like that.

Tonight, the Detroit Tigers became the first team in Major League HISTORY to win 50 games in 2025. Amazing.
