I think the term disabled was eschewed because it makes it seem like a person with limits don't have the ability to do things when actually many of them do - they just have to do it different or at a different pace. I know a dude in a wheelchair who's in great shape. he can't walk, but I don't know that I would ever call that guy disabled. He can do just about everything. He can drive if he has someone to get his wheelchair out of the back seat.

That's the kind of info I was looking for. I think the most I'd ever drive it is to Chicago or Toronto (when they start letting Americans back in) and even then, I think I'd rather take a train or bus or anything. To me it's worth the money to let someone else deal with the aggravation of getting there. Dearborn to Ann Arbor and back on weekdays and toolin' around Metro Detroit on weekends. I know there are some drawbacks. But we have this problem in our society where if something new or relatively new isn't perfect, the establishment will demonize it as terrible. I am sure there were FAR more problems with the first combustion engine cars. No gas stations. Few mechanics who knew how they worked, terrible road conditions............ But people seem to think that if there are problems then we should just forget the whole thing. Like with health care. The establishment will take anything that's bad about universal health care and act like that's the normal for everyone, when actually, it seems to work pretty well. It's just not perfect. As far as a quick charge, I think if I was going on a long trip and needed to charge up during that trip it might be a pain to wait 20-30 minutes for a recharge, but it's also probably a good thing to get up and walk around, or maybe grab a bite to eat. But I am thinking of the more day-to-day. I put roughly 60 miles a day on my car. If one full charge gets me 300 miles, that's a full work week on one charge, but I'd likely be charging overnight when the rates are lower, or plugging my car in when I go shopping (plenty of lots in Ann Arbor have charging stations, ,though I am guessing that Elon will find a way to have any non-Tesla stations shut down). I'm going electric with the next one. I know that much for sure. Hopefully that's not for a couple more years at least. Current car's now paid for.

I think that stuff gets to be too much. You don't want a guy out there overthinking it. Torkelson was a monster hitter in college and a lot of that showed in the minors. Hitting is a pretty natural talent for him. As the Fad Four (The Rutles) once said "Let's be natural"

I think he just decompressed this offseason. I think he needed a mental reset. Maybe he went out in the woods with Aaron Rodgers and drank ayahuasca tea until he crapped broth. "Cept maybe that actually worked for Tork. Oh, and people actually like Tork. Sometimes when you are in a personal or professional slump, you need to remove yourself from the thing you're slumping at. I'd say going forward when Torres returns in July (it's an oblique, that's usually not 10 days). That we keep Tork at first most days and toggle between Keith and Torres at DH/2B. Neither are good defensively. Tork is not a great 1b, but he has improved - he actually finished with 2 DRS last year. Big, BIG improvement. The unfortunate thing about the Tigers current active roster is Keith, Torres and Malloy are all DH material.

I've said this since the offseason. Don't give up on Tork. He's capable of hitting 30 HR because he already has and that his failure last year was mental. I know a lot of people here wanted to get rid of him, but I didn't want to give up yet. I wanted to see what he had in him. When he decided not to come and work on things in the offseason, my thought was that the guy just needed to step away and clear his head and stop listening to 10 different teachers. It seems to have worked. I mean, he's going to go into a slump at some point, but when you START like this, you start believing you can do it and last year, I think mentally he couldn't picture himself succeeding because it was such a severe funk. I'm happy for him. We survived starting vs. the Dodgers on the road now. But if we can get Tork and Mize to be just 75-80% of what we expect from a 1/1, we're going to be pretty happy this Summer.
