This reminds me of another 15 year old from Oregon. In 1998 Kip Kinkel was having rage issues. School talked to the parents. Psychologist told the parents that they had to be VERY careful and that they should not have any weapons within reach, not even in the house. So what does Dad do? He buys his son a gun two weeks later. The very gun Kip used to kill his parents and two kids at his school, and if it hadn't been for a kid named Jakob Ryker tackling him it would have been more.

Unfair. Look at the times he got injured. Crashed into a wall on a hustle play. Crashed into another player on a hustle play. The firstbaseman for the Rays was totally at fault for the season-ending injury because he got directly in the basepath (because he didn't know how to play first base) and Hill got hurt because he was hustling to beat the throw. I don't know how much metal detectors would stop it, but it probably would put some people at ease, but because schools need to have exits available and unlocked (for events like this), I don't think it would be too difficult for a kid to stash a gun near an exit and then go through the detectors and go retrieve their guns. Plus now people are posting how-to videos on making plastic guns with 3D printers that won't be detected in metal detectors. And 3D printers are getting cheaper every day.

The real problem is what is happening long before the explosion.

The vast majority of gun owners wouldn't let their mentally-ill teenager anywhere near an automatic hand gun. We don't know if this father secured the gun and the kid found a way to get it anyway, or if he just bought it and gave it to him. If it's the latter, this is on him too and he needs to be charged.

If dad bought the gun specifically for his 15 year old son, he needs to be charged too and no slap on the wrist. 15 year olds don't need to have handguns.

Okay, I think the College Football Cartell is sending Notre Dame a message now. Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Cincinnati and Oklahoma State are all ranked ahead of them and all of them have to play in a conference championship game. Notre Dame is sitting pretty, pretending they are in the ACC, but not having to play by the rules. I think it keeps them out of the playoffs. Maybe Brian Kelly sees that and sees that he'll always have to be perfect just to get in. Who knows, but he's in LSU now. He has one 9-3 year and they'll tear him to pieces. Good.
