    This is what good teams do. You draft your franchise players and pay them. You use free agency on short term contracts to fills gaps in the roster. You let good but not franchise players like Jonah Jackson get paid elsewhere.

    Signing Goff to a new contract would likely lower his cap hit. Last year he had the 3rd highest cap hit in the league. These new contracts likely don't change the cap hit for Sewell or St Brown much this year. In fact, Sewell was going to have a $19 million cap hit in 2025 so it's possible that is lower.

    Just think three years ago and you are St Brown and Sewell and you were just drafted to a dumpster fire of an organization and now you are the highest paid players at your position on a Super Bowl contender.

    I'm guessing they announce the Goff contract tomorrow right before the Rams pick so the fans can chant Jared Goff.

    I assumed Sewell would sign next year since he has a 5th year option. That 5th year option is $19 million so signing now may lower his cap hit next year and spread it out.

    Jefferson, Lamb, Higgins, and Aiyuk are all in line for extensions soon. At least 2 of the 4 will get a bigger contract than St Brown.

    People don't realize that Goff had one of the highest cap hits in the league last year. With restructures and new contracts a lot of QBs had low cap hits. There is a lot of room to adjust Goff's upcoming cap hit with a new contract.

    I feel like McNeil is going to be that tough decision where you let him walk because you have so many other players to sign. After Goff they have Sewell, then Hutchinson, then Laporta and maybe Gibbs and Branch. Good thing is they are staggered so it isn't all hitting at once.

    How many QBs and OL actually last on the team that drafted them for 12+ years? The chart that was posted earlier show interior lineman has lasting the longest and that's considered another low value position. My position has gone to taking elite talent regardless of position. I would rather have an elite talent at a low value position than an average talent at a high value position.

    I get it, he's not wrong. You tell me something has a 80% chance of happening and it doesn't and you're still not wrong. I can say right now Biden has a 99% chance of winning and not be wrong. Nate was supposed to be the expert since he correctly predicted every election up until then.
