Motown Bombers replied to Mr.TaterSalad's topic in Detroit Lions
How dare we discuss the starting QB of the Detroit Lions in the Detroit Lions forum. Nothing else was being discussed and people whined it was fluff when I posted observations of OTA's. Anyways, I found the solution to your problem: -

I wonder if they can prove he was inside the hotel? What if he made the bet outside on the street using the hotel wifi? Is the entire hotel considered the team hotel? Even the lobby? -

Oh so you're saying in 2022 Jackson was not better than Goff despite you're proclamation that Jackson was one of the best QBs in the league? And before you get to, he was hurt, on a per game basis, Goff averaged more combined yards than Jackson, more TDs than Jackson, more 1st downs than Jackson, and was a more accurate and efficient passer than Jackson. I also noticed you bring up Jackson's record at age 21 but ignore Goff playing in a Super Bowl at age 24. Have to hand it to you, that was some incredible goal post moving. -

In what way was Lamar Jackson more productive than Jared Goff last year? -

Jackson has averaged more carries than Swift who is an actual running back. Jackson is an old 26 whose had a couple of leg injuries now. You wouldn't call a 26 year old running back with an injury history and 5 years in the league as having upside. As Jackson's rushing yards have decreased, his passing has gotten worse. He's going to end up being a pocket passer at some point and he hasn't proven he's a great pocket passer. He's a better version of Cam Newton. It's just weird how Goff just always ends up with these great coaches. Of course the offense tailormade for Goff. It should be tailormade for you QB. I wouldn't expect Jackson to come here and run the same offense as Goff. -

Being able to do both hasn't resulted in Jackson producing more yards, TDs, or 1st downs per game. -

What about Hendon Hooker? I still don't like the pick and I didn't like it before the draft. I think he is a decent prospect and I like accurate pocket passers and who do have a little mobility but he's 25 and injured. -

I thought that Jackson, due to his ability to scramble, would pick up more first downs per game but it turns out Goff averages 13.5 through the air and Jackson averages 12.5 combined rushing and passing. -

What is more impactful in running for 10 yards vs throwing a 10 yard pass to St Brown? -

But Jackson hasn't been at his best in 4 years now and he's only two years younger than Goff although that's only one year older than our newly drafted QB. -

Jackson averaged 250 yards per game both rushing and passing. Goff averaged 265. Jackson averaged 1.6 TDs per game rushing and passing. Goff 1.7, but keep in mind Williams got a lot of carries at the 1 yard line that took TDs away from Goff. Goff was more accurate and more efficient than Jackson and Goff is able to finish seasons. -

I didn't buy that a former #1 overall pick who went to multiple Pro Bowls, Super Bowl and was considered a franchise QB suddenly became a pumpkin at age 26. It happened to Wentz so it's certainly possible but the Lions got multiple 1st round picks in case he did go Carson Wentz. -

Incorrect and I wish the previous forum still existed. For the record, I was in the camp of keeping Stafford until he asked for a trade. When it was first reported that Stafford was interested in the Rams, I was the first one on this forum that floated the idea to trade Stafford for Goff and a 1st round pick. Holmes did one better and got a 2nd 1st round pick. I was in favor of trading for Goff before the trade happened. I did not reverse my position on the Stafford for Goff trade and you're just lying at this point. -

Weird how Lamar Jackson can continue to live on that 2019 season now 4 years ago and Goff can't live off his 2018 season. The thing is, on a per game basis last year, Goff was more productive. He accounted for more yards and TDs and was a more efficient passer. -

It's not just the injury risk but getting teammates involved. Jackson for his career averages over 10 carries per games. That could be a couple carries by Gibbs, or a couple receptions by St Brown or Williams. -

PFF had Fields 18th which I think is a little high. Elite running QBs tend to be overrated when their overall production is on par or less than pocket passers. At the end of the day, I would rather Gibbs be running with the ball than my QB. Jackson running means fewer opportunities for your playmakers. I wish Goff was a little more mobile for when the play breaks down, but you don't need to be a 2nd RB. -

People get enamored with his ability to run. There's no doubt he can run circles around Goff. But at the end of the day, when you can combine rushing and passing, Goff was simply more productive and that wasn't because Jackson was injured. Goff on a per game basis averaged more yards and TDs and was a more accurate passer than Jackson. -

Jared Goff was way more productive than Lamar Jackson but I guess it makes a difference whether you run fast or not. -

I guess than the issue with Tua is they knock Goff for having a strong supporting cast so shouldn't Tua be knocked as well? What about Tua only being successful with McDaniels? Goff gets knocked for Ben Johnson after Goff was only suppose to be successful because of McVay. Geno Smith has never been this successful at any point in his career. He was a failed starter who turned journeyman QB and then at 32 just found it? Smith also started to decline the 2nd half last year. Carr gets run out of Vegas after struggling with alleged offensive guru Josh McDaniel the same way Goff got ran out of LA. -

They had Kirk Cousins 9th, Tua 11th, Carr 14th and Smith 15th. I would say Goff is ahead of those. I would also debate Goff over Stafford who was 12th given Stafford's age, injuries and his severe decline last year but I can see Stafford bouncing back. They also have Watson 13th. That one is more of a question as to whether will regain his former form. -

Stafford is now 35 and an old 35 at that. He did not look good at all last year when healthy. It's funny PFF didn't think highly of Stafford until he went to the Rams. PFF in 2019 had Goff ranked 1st in the NFL in big time throws and now he's just a game manager. These analysis seem to change wildly. -

"In the 10 seasons in which Stafford has logged at least 300 dropbacks, only three times has he ranked within the top 10 quarterbacks in PFF passing grade. He's never ranked higher than sixth. More often than not, Stafford has been solidly in the QB8-QB16 range, whether looking at grades or efficiency as measured by expected points added (EPA) per play." Cole: Buyer Beware for teams banking on extraordinary quarterback play from Matthew Stafford | NFL News, Rankings and Statistics | PFF Now they have Stafford ahead of Goff despite Stafford having one of the worst years of his career. I can't help but think if Stafford was still a Lion and Goff had this season on the Rams they wouldn't be reversed in rankings.
