  1. Actually no. "I am sure there were talks, but I also think the deal was just too good to turn down." There wasn't "talks". This wasn't a choice made by the front office. Holmes was told before he accepted the job that Stafford would no longer be a part of the team. There was no lets see what offers are out there and we'll trade him if we get a good offer. "Even if Stafford did not want to be traded he would have been gone with that offer anyway." This is all just speculation. We have no idea if Holmes would have tried to build around Stafford or trade and rebuild. We have no idea if teams would have made offers. Stafford sought out a trade and he met with McVay prior to be traded to the Rams. Stafford basically sought out the trade to LA. "I do not recall Stafford demanding anything, maybe he said he would be open to it or requested it, but those are different things IMO." There was no ambiguity about it. He didn't say he was open to it. He told the Lions he did not want to play for them anymore. "Maybe just a semantical discussion." Yes it is and what I said was nothing like what you said.
  2. Matthew Stafford went to ownership and asked the Lions to trade him. Sheila Ford acknowledged this and said she told perspective GM's that Stafford had asked to be traded. I guess you are going to get into a semantics battle between request and demand but the bottom line is Stafford told ownership he no longer wants to play for the Lions and would like to play for another team.
  3. It's probably semantics. Stafford requested a trade but said he would have played for the Lions if they didn't trade him. Demand is more forcing a trade or else you will hold out. Stafford demanding/requesting a trade is the best thing that could have happened to Holmes. The decision is out of his hands. If Stafford never requested a trade and Holmes traded him and he wins a Super Bowl, Holmes would be blamed. If he keeps him and they continue to miss the playoffs and Stafford gets old and loses value, Holmes would be blamed. It worked out great, the Stafford supporters can now mock and humiliate Rob Parker and still be thrilled with Holmes.
  4. Andrew Miller was supposed to be the next Randy Johnson and became a good middle reliever after bouncing around the league. I wouldn't call that top tier and they got Cabrera so you would expect top tier in exchange. The last perennial all star was Verlander and the last position player worthy of batting 1-5 I would say would be Granderson. Interesting how they both were drafted and developed before they turned good in 2006 as if there was a pivot to going all in instead of drafting and developing.
  5. Dan Campbell is the coach I thought Patricia was going to be. He doesn't get enough credit for being a cerebral coach because of the kneecap biting and ra-ra stuff. He isn't aggressive on 4th down because he's reckless, he knows the data and knows his team. The defense isn't good enough to get stops consistently and the offense isn't a quick strike offense. He tailors the team around the opponent and their skill. The Pittsburgh game, he had a QB who couldn't throw 10 yards and a Steelers team with an awful run defense and he changed it up and ran it down their throats and damn near won. Patricia had a system and it was a throwback to the 90's ground and pound and big bodied defensive players. Campbell and Holmes don't have a scheme. They go and get athletes with strong character and build the scheme around them. It's why we don't have players like Tavai anymore.
  6. Unfortunately it's being audited.
  7. Hire Jeff Luhnow. If you were ok with Hinch, you should be ok with Luhnow.
  8. Those haven't existed for some time. I guess every Democrat is a progressive now but don't tell the squad that.
  9. It was reported Trump's lawyers told him to end contact with Meadows.
  10. He's got information on Johnson, the Kennedys and the Bushes.
  11. Is the best way to watch Hard Knocks by getting HBO Max? I can't believe I'm about to get HBO just to watch Hard Knocks. I've never watched Hard Knocks so I don't even know what it's about.
  12. When Kim is talking to Howard's wife, didn't she say Mike was dead? How would she know that? As far as the authorities would know, he's a missing person. Why wouldn't be assumed he skipped town like Saul and Jesse?
  13. Dubious source so take it FWIW.
  14. Too bad the league couldn't have stepped in and nixed the hiring of Patricia when his accusation came out.
  15. IIRC the Billups thing happened while he was with the Celtics and involved Antoine Walker and someone else. I'm pretty sure Billups and Walker settled out of court. It's not like the NFL handled the Ray Rice one well either. IIRC he was only suspended two games and then the video leaked and the NFL and Ravens were forced to suspend him longer.
