  1. Notice the one huge exception.
  2. I mean, that's just a bonus but Harbaugh has a legit NFL track record. I never understood all these other college coaches getting more NFL attention.
  3. I'm being serious. No head coach Jacksonville will interview will have the NFL credentials that Harbaugh has. The Jacksonville job may be appealing. Potential franchise QB in place and another top 3 pick.
  4. Holmes and Campbell also have 6 years contracts. Sheila knows this is not an overnight rebuild and they will have a little bit of leash.
  5. The college coach I would hire is Jim Harbaugh.
  6. I could have sworn they tore down some statues in Chicago. That didn't work? Next time a bus driver is getting beat up, be sure to call in the social workers.
  7. The best move Sheila made was hiring Dorsey. He put together a perennial Super Bowl contender and turned around a 1-31 team to a playoff team. His issues with hiring coaches and managing the cap are nullified in his role.
  8. Matt Millen was the 2nd highest paid GM in the league at the time. At the risk of being called contrarian and a slappy, the Lions haven't been cheap recently. The issue with Willie Clay Ford was hiring unqualified people to run the team, being completely hands off, and loyal to a fault.
  9. I never said anything like that. I said there recent history of top 5 picks has been good. Honest question, why you even follow the team? Not only do you seem miserable following the team, but you want others to be just as miserable as you.
  10. The article is dated September 15th so it appears he did after he walked away. Either way, he signed the extension after spending 8 seasons with the Lions. He could have sought a new team at that time instead of signing the extension.
  11. Plus if you draft a WR with the Rams pick, plus development from St Brown and Swift, you insert the rookie QB into a better situation and give them a fighting chance. I'm also not opposed with sticking with Goff past next season if they have to.
  12. It's unfortunate your ignore list didn't transfer over from the previous forum.
  13. So now joking about how the Lions have had great players retire early makes me a Lions slappy?
  14. I can see it now. Sewell is going to develop into one of the best LT ever, he'll sign the largest contract ever given to an offensive lineman, and then he'll retire at age 30 and fight with the Lions for his signing bonus while people blame the Lions for ruining his hall of fame career with his own personal choices.
  15. Calvin Johnson wants the Lions to do something that is currently against NFL rules and he's salty they cannot and won't do it. I really don't think it has any impact on the Lions attracting or retaining free agents. The Lions were able to sign Ragnow and Okwara to extensions and probably could have signed Golladay if they really wanted him.
  16. Please consdier (sic) the words actually written in your responses: "Barry Sanders walked away and not because the Lions forced him into retirement or ruined his career." Barry Sanders made the choice to leave. The Lions did not force him out. If he thinks his career is unfulfilled and wanted to play longer, he should have A) never signed the extension with the Lions in the first place, B) honored his contract and continue to play for the Lions, or C) request a trade from the Lions. I have no idea if he actually did request a trade or if Ross would have granted it.
  17. Right and that's because Barry Sanders walked away and not because the Lions forced him into retirement or ruined his career. He walked away only 2 years after signing a 6 year contract and he signed that contract with Bobby Ross so he can't even blame Ross.
  18. Barry Sanders chose to sign a long term extension with the Lions. He chose to walk away from setting the all time rushing record. Barry Sanders is still regarded as one of the greatest running backs of all time so I would hardly say his career was ruined. Andrew Luck chose to retire early. Did the Colts ruin his career?
  19. In the past 50 years, the Lions have only drafted 4 QBs in the 1st round. I expected it to be more.
  20. At this point in time last year, did anyone expect Trey Lance would be drafted 3rd overall? At the same time, I don't think many expected Fields to slide. If the Lions draft a QB, I feel it will be a trade up from the Rams pick.
  21. I stated my position over 15 hours ago. It's a shame you didn't read it, accused me of being contrarian and defending the Lions no matter what, and continued a conversation you complain is still going. It was over and done with and you come along and lecture me on my posts. I'm dumbfounded that the position of Stafford, Johnson, and Suh being great picks, and good players who had great careers is contrarian.
