  1. You know this is serious when I email John James about Trump defying the Supreme Court and disappearing US citizens and he responds right away without mentioning his support for Trump.
  2. That's exactly what it does. It reduces your addiction to food. It's basically a nicotine patch for food. Imagine if there was a drug that could reduce alcohol dependency. Calorie deficit "strategy" is how you lose weight but not how you maintain weight. You don't run a calorie deficit the rest of your life. These drugs have shown that not only can they treat people to lose weight but also maintain a lower weight. They aren't just easily available to anyone who wants them. In order to get them, you must have a certain BMI and at least one co-morbidity related to weight.
  3. Ozempic isn't even the one commonly being prescribed for weight loss. There are, however, GLP-1's that are FDA approved and clinical trials have been done. Long term affects are known since these drugs have been used to treat diabetes. People who take a GLP-1 aren't looking for an easy way out.
  4. When I was in high school, the Atkins low carb diet was all the rage. I worked at Burger King, and they got in on it by creating the low carb Whopper. It was just a Whopper without a bun. You put the patty and the topping in a bowl and that was it. It actually sold fairly well.
  5. I am. I don't need your permission.
  6. The US also has one of the highest opioid addiction rates in the world. It's access to opioids which is prevalent in the US, and also access to addictive foods like highly processed foods.
  7. Absolutely. I'll remember this then when people talk about the Fentanyl epidemic in Appalachia. They simply got to put in the work. Sorry.
  8. I like how people here think overweight people don't know how to lose weight. It's just calorie deficit! No ****.
  9. What I'm "on about here" is that you said losing weight was hard and that people who don't lose weight just don't want it enough. That's when I brought up food addiction and you minimized that, but it's every bit an epidemic as drug and alcohol abuse but fewer resources are available for it. There needs to be a societal shift in the thinking of overweight people and understand that they face the same issues as alcoholics and drug addicts. You don't just go up to an alcoholic and tell them stop drinking. You can offer them detox and rehab. Food addiction is even more challenging because you simply can't stop eating. Nobody ever needed to drink a beer in their life or snort cocaine. They made a conscious choice to do so.
  10. Coach of the year always goes to the team that most surpassed expectations. It's like that in every league. No way OKC surpassed expectations as much as the Pistons surpassed expectations.
  11. It's all so easy. Just drink fewer beers, it will be better for you in the long run. Just do fewer lines of coke, it will be better for you in the long run. You just got to want to make the change.
  12. You don't get anything from Trump without groveling and a little quid pro quo. She should have known that. No other governor got played like that. It only hurts her politically. She was going to have a tough go because there is a deep bench, but this really damaged her.
  13. Now that I think about it, one out of every eight people addicted to food is a lot. That's 13% of the population. 10.2% of the population battled alcohol use in the past year, and 9.7% battled substance abuse. Fentanyl is treated as an epidemic, even so much we have to crash our economy. When more people are addicted to food, it's just quit being lazy.
  14. The average person with a moderate drinking problem, they just need to make a lifestyle shift and stop drinking. Easy enough.
  15. The relevance is that food addiction is not treated the same as people with alcohol and drug addiction as you are demonstrating. People who are overweight are simply lazy whereas as alcoholics and drug addicts are battling demons. Even from your link: “The word addiction may seem strong when it comes to food, but research has shown that our brains respond as strongly to highly processed foods, especially those highest in sugar, simple starches, and fat, as they do to tobacco, alcohol and other addictive substances,” says Gearhardt. This link is only a study of people of over 50. Other studies have as high as 20% of people have a food addiction vs. less than 10% of people addicted to alcohol. If it's simply a lifestyle change, what eating disorders are real then? Anorexia? Just make a lifestyle change and eat more.
  16. I was driving down 12 Mile and there is a house with a flagpole in the front yard and a large American flag. Just underneath the American flag is a flag of Trump raising his fist after being shot at. Tell me this not a cult.
  17. Studies have been done to show that food addiction and binge eating disorders are real. It's a physical, chemical, and emotional reaction to food. Certains foods such as ones high in sugar trigger the same receptors of the brain as alcohol and drugs. You can't just abstain from eating like you can from drinking and doing drugs. To just minimize it as essentially people are lazy is just pure ignorance. On top of that, people cannot just hide food addiction like you can alcoholism or being a drug addict.
  18. I'm calling bull****. What is your source on this? Seven out of eight people are not addicted to alcohol. Seven out of eight are not addicted to drugs. They just need to put in the work depending on how bad they want it.
  19. Does Shapiro now show up wrapped in bandages like a mummy from the burns he suffered in the fire?
  20. Food addiction doesn't get treated the same as alcohol or drug addictions. Imagine telling an alcoholic to just drink less period, and by the way, you still need to have three drinks per day, no more no less.
