From the reports I have seen the situation has been under some control thanks to the military.  They have used razor wire at some illegal crossing points and not letting people through.  Strange how well a barrier works after the dems kept saying it they don’t.  It just shows how much democrats support an invasion of illegals. Unfortunately thousands and thousands of them are still getting in.  We need more military on the border using any means and force neccesary to secure and close the border.  I am surprised Biden hasn’t pulled the few that are there if they are doing good. They want all the illegals they can get to cross and are fighting an order they can’t mass release people in the US.

Guys… we were doing so well not responding to obvious trolling.

Let’s keep doing well in that endeavor.

Do you know that more Americans view Biden like the photo I posted than the other?  Last I saw over 60% of the people didn’t feel Biden was mentally competent to hold office.

Also, you do realize this is a board where people share their opinions and not everyone is going to have the same opinion? That does not make anyone a troll.  Perhaps you should add a disclaimer on the Politics board that says “Everyone is welcome as long as you have the same opinion as the few regular posters.” That way everyone can visit their safe place and not have to deal with reality.  You can ban me if you don’t like my opinion.  I don’t plan to waste much time here.  If you look at my post from a couple days ago I explained why.

You must live in an extremely dark, disturbing, depressing world. How sad.

You are right.  I do live in a very dark place.  It hasn’t been that way for long, only since corrupt dementia Joe Biden took over. What is sad is that the policies and actions of Biden and his party have jeopardized the safety of my family and every American in the US.

I stopped by a gun shop today to get ammunition.  It was so busy that people had to wait outside.  One good thing and probably the only good thing about Biden is he is a great gun salesman.

  4. I can see not much has changed in this forum.  There are still a lot of blind followers of a political party feeding off of bad information or misinformation and ignoring reality.  There’s nothing you can do for those people because they live in their own fantasyland.

There is no point in arguing or debating taking guns away because it will never happen.  And yes millions of people own firearms for self protection. They are walking next to you on the street or in a store everyday.  I’m sure you all have heard the saying “take a knife to a gun fight” and if that is what you prefer to do then that’s up to you.  If you don’t know how to use a firearm or are frightened by one then you shouldn’t have one and that goes for everyone.  As for someone taking your gun away and shooting you with it as a reason people should not have a firearm, well that isn’t even a consideration.  Yes ,it can happen and has happened, even to police and soldiers in battle but its unlikely.

You can ignore the invasion of the southern border but that won’t fix the problem.  It’s one of the worst security issues the US has ever faced and it was done intentionally by this administration.  I do believe that the majority of these people coming in are not here to be good people.  They bring drugs, crime and violent crimes.  As long as it doesn’t happen to you then it doesn’t matter.  I hate it happening to anyone and we need to border secured and Biden and Mayorcus will forever be known by this failure, like Carter is for Iran.  This situation is unexceptable for even a third world country but that’s where we are headed under the current failed administration.

One purpose of the "only outlaws will have guns" mantra was to make us feel less safe b/c there'd be fewer "good guys with guns" to save the day.  I think that's proven to be a worthless defense tactic.

I just wish republicans hated guns as much as they hated minorities and LGBTQ and Drag Queens.

What you are missing is that the vast majority of people carry a firearm to protect themselves and their family and not to be that good guy with a gun.   A persons ability to protect themselves and their family is more important than ever with the failure of the Biden administration to protect our borders.   Thanks to Biden or whoever is running that disaster in the White House, more and more people will be carrying firearms so you better get used to it when you are in public.  Its going to get a lot worse real soon too.

  6. You guys have short memories.  Remember when all we heard about from democrats and some peeps here about how the "Trump" wall was a waste of money, its racist and it doesn't work?  I guess not.

Years ago Biden, Schumer and a lot of other dems said we need a wall built.  When Trump does it they are against it. This is a big part of the problem in politics today and its hurting our country.  When one side does something good the other side will condemn it just because the idea came from the other side.  Now that Biden is constructing some of the wall its OK. I'm glad they are doing it and should put up as much as possible.  There are a lot of security issues on the southern border and it needs to be secured.

I think the thing that many people haven't processed yet about EVs their that their cost of operation is already lower.  We sort of know intuitively that electricity cost more than fossil fuel per BTU, but IC cars are really inefficient!

At $4/gallon a car that gets 25mpg has a fuel cost of $0.16/mile. To compare, Ford claims an EMustang goes 2.4 miles/kWh* and in MI a kWhr costs $0.18, so that is $0.075/mile. That's a $8500 fuel cost savings in 100K miles. If the Fed gives you $7500 back on the purchase, that puts you $16k to the good assuming the cars are roughly equal production cost. (The battery in an EV probably costs a bit more than a bare IC engine, but taking an IC power train as a whole, they are in the same ballpark). Now all that said, if the batteries don't last >>100K miles the economics go down the tubes.

    *Ford says you get 28 miles of range for 1 hr of charge at 240V x 48A. That's 28mile/11.5kWr = 2.4 mile/kWh

Battery life is another big issue.  First there is the disposal.  What are they going to do with all the bad batteries?  Then there is the cost of a new battery and disposal of the old one.  I have no idea what a battery replacement costs but I have heard its going to be very expensive.  Numbers I've heard -and no idea if they are correct -  is $6,000 to $12,000.

Over the many years I've bought cars the math has led me from new to used and back to new and now it sounds like maybe back to used!

That's going to be a shift as EV's take significant a piece of the market. You can buy an IC car in good condition 2-4 yrs old and for all intents and purposed plan on being able to drive it as long as you could care to keep a new car. But if you are looking at at huge battery replacement cost at 7-10 yrs out, that's going mean much higher depreciation rates on E-vehicles to figure into their true ownership cost.

There are a lot of ideas and proposals for recovering value from automotive battery packs that still have a lot of functional life but not enough to keep in the car (~75%) but so far not much concrete.

The 50k number I used is a little less than my new truck cost.  I was lucky to be able to get one.  Similar used trucks with up to 100k miles were still in the 40s.  Nothing is cheap right now.

I don't know how EV will go over.  I still think the majority of people will avoid them and auto mfg that are going to mainly all EVs will be in trouble.  A lot of things will have to change to make EVs practical and I don't see that happening for a very long time.  They are probably good for around town driving but taking a long trip would be a problem.

Okay, so this crazy woman who fired the gun in the airport in Dallas who claimed to be Chris Brown's wife (you'd have to be crazy to want to be the wife of a violent woman-beater)..........and also has claimed to be God's Prophet and has started several fires in the past, including as recently as 2019...............was she able to get that gun legally?

I've mentioned this before.  I worked with a young lady who had an Aunt who one time sealed up her car and duct taped every nook and cranny on the outside of the car, rolled her window down just enough to put a hose in the window and turned on the hose and filled up her car with water to drown the demons inside of it - was able to legally get a gun, even though a social worker had noted this incident and several other ones.        Wouldn't a responsible  le gun owner cringe at someone like that having a deadly weapon?

I agree with you.  How or why is this happening?  That's why myself and many others say that passing new laws will not do any good until they figure out how to manage and implement what they have.  What good is it to have a law or process that nobody adheres to.

average car payment hit $700/mo recently.

    Nuts.

Actually that seems pretty low.  A $50k car or truck is more of the average if it isn't higher.  A $50k loan at 3.5% is over $900 a month for 60 months.

As for houses and mortgages its even worse.  There's still plenty of $200k to $350k house available (in my area) but a $500k to $600k price range and higher is more common.  A 30 year mortgage for $500k @ 6% gives the borrower a payment of almost $3000 a month.  I used to complain about a $1000 a month payment.

  11. The Ferrari produces more downforce than the Bulls.  I think Charlie will be the guy to beat going into the weekend.  It would help his strategy if contacted Bottas to see if he could do his bowling ball impression and take out both Bulls in turn 1 of the first lap.

One thing that separates the good drivers from the great is understanding that being ahead and running your tires too hard is often worse than sitting back and conserving for later in the race.  I’m impressed at how Max has mastered this at a young age.  Lewis is probably the best ever at it but it took him much longer to get to Max’s current level.    Charles is a great talent but he’s got a lot of work to do in this area.    I was impressed with his honestly and humility afterwards.   George could learn a thing or two from him in this area.

Tire management is something Lewis has been good at his entire career.  Of all the current drivers I think Alonso the best at it.  Alonso is getting on in years but he is still a great driver.  If he would have managed his career better and been with better teams he would be one of the all time greats. I think he still is but he doesnt have the results he could of had.

Charlie shouldn't beat himself up too bad since there's a very fine line between driving on the edge and out of control.  As great as Senna was he was in the same position more than once.

  13. No bail is a democrat policy is NY. It was first signed by Cuomo before he was caught being a sexual predator.  It allows many violent offenders to walk free while awaiting trial.  This is getting more common among democrat's in office.  Gascon is doing the same thing in LA.  At least the people in San Francisco seen the light and recalled the liberal DA who was soft on crime.

The guy who attacked Zelden after Kathy Hochul who is his political opponent and current NY governor told her supporters to show up Zelden's campaign stops and called him dangerous.  Based on what democrats accuse Trump  of doing on January 6, Hochul should be guilty too.  When will the hearings and impeachment start in NY?

  14. I've said many times on here that democrats and their policies are why people are in danger and feel the need to arm themselves.  I don't think it was mentioned on here because the attacker was one of the guys on your team but Lee Zelden was attacked during a campaign stop.  The attacker was arrested and taken to jail but a soon released even though he is being charged with a felony.  Yes, its a felony to attack a sitting congressman.  The attacker is violent and a danger but democrat policies lets him roam free and endanger the public.  You can ignore it all you want but the fact remains that democrats and their policies are dangerous to the country and its citizens.

  15. De Vries had a nice run in the Merc in first practice.  He was a little more than a half second off Russell.  Not bad for little to no time in the car and about where Lewis is with George in session 1.  The Brits will still bang their drum that Lewis is the GOAT though.

This is impossible because Joe himself said Covid is a pandemic of the unvaccinated.  Its another rough week for Joe.  He said he had cancer a couple days ago because of an oil slick and now covid.  Polling numbers are worse than ever but the good thing is he can't remember a thing about any of it.
