  1. So he got pulled over in October, which apparently led to a ticket for driving with a suspended license, and he was smart enough to get a lawyer, but they never followed through on following up with SoS to ensure the incorrect suspended license ticket was incorrect? Wouldn't that be the first thing to bring up to the judge?
  2. True, but my guess is they got some stuff done in exchange for support should the QOP pull their ****. As stupid as the GOP is, I don't think there was any way we would have ended up with speaker Jeffries. So instead, give the GOP support that they won't deal with looking like absolute buffoons like they have already. Get something out of it. The MTG, Boeberts, and Gaetz's of the party will continue to MTG/Boebart and Gaetz, just like a Lion is going to Lion. So you still get the headlines that continues to show the GOP as a mess while still being able to show some bipartisan progress.
  3. From a **** the GOP standpoint, I couldn't agree more. I hope the more reserved democratic decision to work with him to get some more stuff done which allows Biden to campaign on working with a hostile congress pays off with independents though.
  4. My main complaint is that you can't question anything about Fauci without it immediately being equated to believing some jewish space laser hit epstein island which caused the illuminati to start a hoax virus. In the name of Science, Fauci wanted gain of function. That is known. Other scientists/doctors agreed with him, others tended to agree but called for more oversight. The Obama administration sided with those that called for more oversight. Fauci and many others found ways (possibly legally, but I'd be interested in knowing for sure) to redefine gain of function. We now know Wuhan was doing research on spike protein and was doing gain of function. Still, it's not a slam dunk it was a lab leak as there has been some evidence that others feel strengthens the Wuhan wet market. But if Fauci knew and allowed 'gain of function' under the belief they had proper handling procedures which would keep it from escaping AND allow scientists to defend against such a virus if it naturally happened in the wild as pretty much everyone agrees could happen, even if the intentions were for the best, than he's a heck of a lot more responsible for the deaths of millions than Trump is.
  5. I mean Rob, who has been getting a ton of likes to his posts and is a moderator on this site said he wouldn't even bother reading the article I posted. Am I wrong to put more value in what he says then some random Twitter post?
  6. Point taken on grandstanding, but just because the GOP sucks doesn't mean trying to understand how and why, including failed response, shouldn't be reviewed.
  7. So I just looked it up as I was confused by your response and it's arguably not the biggest pandemic in the last 100 years, at least if you base it on deaths (HIV/aids). But I still don't see how I created a strawman argument. Was it not a big deal?
  8. A billionaire politician didn't correctly do accounting to pay off a mistress like Clinton or Edwards and every resource available should be used to ensure he's found guilty. The biggest pandemic in 100 years occurs and there is no need to discuss anything about it. It's in the past, let it go. In fact whenever it's brought up, let's just strawman the heck out of it. 700 billion..... money apparently only corrupts people you guys politically disagree with.
  9. We have credible data that indicates this could have come out of the Wuhan Lab. We have credible data that indicates we funded gain of function research (at least by some peoples definitely....wtf is that mean?!?!) there. If this is true, the people responsible for Covid made huge financial windfalls because their unethical behavior killed millions of people. Evidence is mounting how destructive it was to our youth as well. But yeah, let's just focus on the asshats that didn't want to wear a mask. They are the true problem.
  10. That wasn't that recent, but he had some legitimate reasons for that too. It was new and they errored on the side of caution, additionally after his mask reversal (don't use....well, definitely use), I think they were concerned that by retreating on some additional previous decisions, it would cause folks to ignore other recommendations they felt were still important.
  11. I mean, there is a credible chance he helped fund the entire reason why we have a mask debate.... so I mean, take that for what it's worth.
  12. https://nypost.com/2024/06/02/opinion/nih-scientists-made-710m-in-royalties-from-drug-makers-a-fact-they-tried-to-hide/ Even if you fully support the NIH and Fauci, this has to be a little bit concerning, right?
  13. same as you, but it looks like i'm a little older: 96 - Dole 00 - Bush
  14. Finished season 2 of the The Jinx. Instead of just following the trial which I think anyone that watched the Jinx likely followed a bit, they went into those around Durst and questions just how culpable they should be.
  15. https://nypost.com/2024/05/16/us-news/nih-director-admits-taxpayers-funded-gain-of-function-research-in-wuhan-four-years-after-covid-pandemic-began/ Ridiculous answer, but more truthful then they've been in the past.
  16. It would be nice if folks like Rina Shaw took the time to outline the changes and voice dissent, rather than lie. https://www.wric.com/news/politics/capitol-connection/disabled-veterans-urge-youngkin-to-use-line-item-veto-on-budget-language-affecting-college-tuition-waiver-program/ Apparently students fitting this could simply provide the required information and get this benefit before. Now they will be required to complete a FAFSA and if they are given financial aid, Virginia will only be on the hook for the balance of it.
  17. I disagree with the premise that he's learned that perfectly. Trump had a keen eye for identifying things that everyone was upset with and reshaping the party around him to accept it. But then he got into power, wanted to keep it, and I don't think he has that keen eye anymore. Abortion is about the only thing you could argue he understands can hurt him, yet while he tries to play the states rights line, he allows to much talk about contraceptives and federal bans from those close to him. IMO, because he is more focused on revenge that actually winning. Add in the fact what he's done to the GOP. Helped start (and finish) civil wars within the state GOP for Michigan and Arizona, two swing states that need a healthy state level GOP to help drive voters to the polls. (Guess you could argue Michigan's sane party took it back, but it's a flaming pile of dog crap still. Loyalty is more important than turning out the base for him. In fact for the previous base that wasn't 'loyal' to him, he couldn't care less about them.
  18. I definitely think some Canadians care, just not with the passion with their own team. Probably similar to what I see with myself and a lot of folks I know with the Big Ten. I actively root against OSU (Maple Leafs) and if MSU or UofM aren't involved, I hope to see the Big Ten team (every other Canadian team) win, but I'm not losing any sleep if it doesn't happen.

  20. Nothing confusing about that. The part I'm confused by is those saying Butker said that stuff to women. You yourself pointed out your wife had snide remarks directed towards her. Maybe more folks accepting of Butkers views (not necessarily following them though) could have saved your wife those comments. I heard him say his wife didn't truly understand her vocation until she was a wife and mother. I was never career minded, I wanted to work and do well at it, but I didn't have the drive to go up the management chain. I did want to be a father, but once I was, it was clear to me what I cared about more and what I wanted to be known for more, a good father or an accomplished worker? I strive for both, but on my death bed I would like to think most people would only care about one of those.
  21. If only there were people that could use there platform to point out there is nothing wrong with that path if you choose to do it.
  22. Did something publicly happen with someone that said this recently? Links or it didn't happen.... and I mean links with the wording that explicitly says their only job is to procreate and cook. I have read Butkers speech if that's what you are referring to. I did take exception with some parts of it, parts in which I view him as a Catholic that likes the conservative push we're seeing with that church in the US of which the pope is actually pushing back on. There was a part where he mentioned that women, the type of women that would choose to go to a catholic school, may be looking more forward to starting a family then pushing for a c-level position. My wife was and is very proud of her degree and she was working towards that when we met. Apparently because I'm a horrible conservative, we also talked about our hopes for our lives outside of work before we got married. In hindsight, I guess I should have only looked at my wife in the terms of the money and titles she could attain and just hope she would eventually want kids like I wanted. Obviously I'm part of the patriarchy. That was later re-enforced when after our 1st child was born, she wanted to quit work and spend more time raising our child. I encouraged it and when she felt horrible about the lack of financial support from her, I tried to make sure she understood I'd do anything to help her have her wish. At the time I felt I was being supportive, but I'm woke now and realize I was telling her she should just stay home, cook, and procreate. It was difficult on her as she was raised in a family of female's that worked and she had a new world out there that said women should be pushing for more power in the workplace. It was not an easy decision for her and a lot of that was based on outside pressures to be a successful women. She eventually went back to work, but raised two wonderful kids. Even if she didn't go back to work, she was successful in my eyes.
  23. Ahh yes, I forgot how Sean Hannity got so big over his FoxNews coverage of the 68 Olympics. Both sides have done it for as long as their have been at least two sides. Stop pretending it only happens when it offends you.
  24. Ever watch a White House press briefing? If you miss it, you can go back and watch them on youtube and I think c-span usually has the most recent one up.
  25. Stock market rising when Trump is in power - It means nothing, average American's aren't getting the advantage of that rising stock market, there are many other factors. Stock market rising when Biden is in power - It's the ultimate measurement, you shouldn't discuss anything else, this should be the only focus.
