Biden needs to have a speech from the Oval in primetime and get ahead of this. Make it clear on a stage that is seen by everyone that Putin is responsible for the surge in energy prices. At the same time, perfect opportunity for him to get his domestic agenda moving again, calling for commitments in Nuclear, renewables, as well as domestic oil/gas. Make a commitment to the left that no new drilling will be allowed, but any open permits will honored for let's say 5-10 years. Give the oil companies a set time to allow them to realize gains on any spending they put in place to help ensure next Winter isn't a sh*tshow. Nationally there is a lot of push for employee's to get back into the office. Not sure if it's the governments role here, but it would be nice to see companies maybe hold off on that to shrink the demand for gas.

I agree it's an overreach, but I don't necessarily understand how it marginalizes gay people. The law doesn't force a teacher not to acknowledge it though, it simply states they can't have pre-determined instruction about sexual orientation or gender identity. This would include heterosexual orientation as well. I personally don't understand the outrage in treating kids like kids and letting them learn about some issues when they are older and better able to understand it. My daughter (12) recently informed me that she is lgbtq as she believes she's pansexual. My first thought 'where is she getting this from' followed by a feeling that I must be doing something right because at 12 years old, 1) she's not oversexualized and 2) looking for the good in everyone. (This is based on her explanation to me of what a pansexual is) I'll be honest, maybe I just don't understand this. If she told me she was gay, I would have probably accepted that as truth as I do believe most gay people know they are gay very early on. But since she said pansexual, I doubt it. Not that I will love her less if she is, but I just have a feeling the next few years may change how she see's everything. It's a confusing age for kids and she's several years past the cut off for the Florida law. I'm not saying boys should be taught to play with trucks and stressed the importance of math while girls must play with dolls and focus on becoming nurses, i'm just saying teach kids they can do anything and let them figure out who they are sexually.

Life would be a lot duller without gay people.

So, am I missing something with this? Is the outrage that someone coined "Don't Say Gay" bill and therefore everyone must hate it, or is there a legitimate issue with the law? For Kindergarten through 3rd grade, schools may not have specific instruction related to sexual orientation. I'm guessing/hoping common sense provides that same refusal to have specific instruction on sexual orientation to kids up here in Michigan. The Libertarian in me wonders why even waste your time with this law as it's for posturing sake anyway, but i'm not sure I understand the outrage, unless that's just the reverse posturing from the other side.

Another thing that might be stupid as well, but note i'm just asking and i'm a peon, but, how much different is it to learn different drone's? That seems like that might be something that could assist Ukrainian's quicker on the battlefield, but i'm sure that would still take some time. Maybe with that though, you pull some Ukrainian drone tech's over into Poland for "training".

A saw a meme where it showed a picture of the Kyiz Convoy and a couple of A-10's with captions like "Oooh, that looks good" and "I'd so hit that." Kind of funny, but it's just a joke. With the full support of the rest of the US forces, yes, the A-10's would have a field day, but especially when you see the Russian issues with logistics, you'd think our leaders wouldn't say such definitive statements understanding that it's not always as simple as seeing tanks and assuming all we have to do is give Ukraine something that attacks tanks.

Last time it snowed hard, I put on a mask as I went out to shovel. Never would have done that before, but over time I got used to it and often found myself in the winter months wearing it as I left a business until I got into my car. I'm fairly confident his words were for internal consumption so my thoughts are pretty much null and void. But I'm definitely not taking him at his word, but the last thing I heard about Putin was his call with Macron where he straight up indicated this is not a peacekeeping mission, but rather he was taking it at all costs. If within a day or two he's now telling international leaders that he feels there needs to be cooperation to return to normal, to me, that would be saying he's looking for a way out.

I'm wondering if he's speaking to an international community or was that directed to Russian friendly nations/states? If international, that's a great sign. If just his cronies, it means nothing.

I don't see that in Sinema, which is why I agree with you that if no one from the GOP was voting for Jackson, she wouldn't confirm until she got something out of it. She really seems to epitomize the sleaze that is DC. Just one GOP member votes for her and Sinema has nothing to bargain with.

Unless some serious background info comes out, which i'm assuming would have already, Manchin will definitely rubber stamp. Sinema, IMO, won't have any political reason to hold out either, as i'm confident you're going to have several GOP senators, at minimum, vote for her.

He's threatening with nukes because he's getting beat up on the world stage and his troops are looking like a second tier army, rather than arguably the 2nd strongest in the world. The fact he's threatening nukes shows just how scared he is.

It's a drop in the bucket. Would have preferred a call to produce more gas/oil while explaining why it's required in this time now. Politically that could have caused a riff as the GOP would have focused on reopening Keystone and that wouldn't play out well on the left. More interested in what the upcoming actions of Biden are here than simply what he said in his speech.

Agreed, Harris would have to make a decision based on 2-3 alternating views made by experts in their fields. Even if she consistently made the worse choice, it would still have some merit. Even for the few experts in their fields that were able to get within earshot of Trump, they had to compete with uninformed choices from Trump friends/family along with Trump's own 'why don't we just say fuck it, that'll be good for ratings' mentality.

I contend that I'm accurate as I believe any escalation could lead to WWIII if some of the intelligence reports of we're seeing about Putin's mindset is accurate. I'm not even saying that it would definitely lead to WW3, but again, it would definitely be an escalation and Putin made it clear any escalation would be met severely. Russia also just invaded a sovereign country, that showed no aggression to it, based on trumped up charges that no international body has been able to confirm or identify over the years. Even Iraq and Libya does not compare to this, yet the Russian claim this is a peacekeeping mission and are 'surprised' that the world is against them. I have a feeling they have different views on what is escalatory when they do it, versus when something is done to them.
