  1. Flahtery identifies as very good !
  2. If Keith still isn't hitting .200 when Urshela returns then it's going to be tune up time unless Perez has returned to earth.
  3. I think its bye bye Buddy and Wencel stays...
  4. First thing we need is to take a deep breath. Secondly I would like them to bat Tork lower and give him an extended run at DH only. Like 15 to 20 games to clear his mind. Bring Hitua up for the 15 to 20 games Tork is DH to maybe add a spark which is all Hirua is good for. Once Tork hits move him back to first. If at seasons end he still hits only so so and continues to field poorly then consider him a DH going into 2025 planning. Continue to play Meadows and Keith at least through May. No better options. Maybe platoon them for a couple weeks for a mini breather. Release a little pressure. No reason to trade pitching now. I love Verling in RF every day but until Jung is ready or Urshela returns play him at third. Sigh. But soonest possible get Jung out up for MLB evaluation. Get ALL of Al’s kids evaluated this year so we can put a known team on the field in 2025. And do not panic at the Trade deadline.
  5. Spencer Torkelson --0.7 war - 438th out of 450 players- at the start of the day. Only up from here.
  6. Yes of course. Possible?
  7. Corbin Carrol but faster
  8. McGonigle is going to be a solid major leaguer.
  9. I never liked the Paredes deal. And I blame Hinch for never playing him enough to find out. It leaves me wondering about his ability to judge talent. The dude always showed a keen sense of the strike zone, fielded competently and just looking at him showed power was there. Greene got hurt and Al was under pressure to show progress so he gambled. He gave up a high draft pick also and Meadows was already declining badly in the field and somewhat at the plate while his salary was rising. Typical Tampa move.
  10. What’s a watch ?
  11. Thanks for that. It's wonderful.
  12. Age, injuries and the difficulty of pitching enough innings to get a win makes it a steep climb. If anyone can do that its Verlander.
  13. Didn't Wencel have the yips at second base ? A mental block throwing to first ? I think that's why they moved him to centerfield.
  14. Could it be the opposite ? Maybe he isn't mad just "messing" with them good naturally ? Possible ?
  15. Didn't he just miss a scoop two games ago ? And can't all first baseman scoop throws. It seems like a basic skill to play the position. I don't think this is a measure of a good first baseman. I can't think of any regular first sacker who played for Detroit or any team that can't scoop throws.
  16. Defense is just ignored in baseball and especially in Detroit over the past decade or so, everybody gives it lip service but they don't really commit to it. It's not just the errors on paper but the missed plays, missed cuts-offs , mental mistakes etc. I mean what good is a 2 run homer when you give up unearned runs ? Errors will happen but when managers put players in positions they can not play well it's the definition of insanity. The old adage "if he can hit we will find a place for him",,,well so will the batted ball.
  17. I bet Verling is better than Tork at first right now and Carpenter could be just as good after training not straight away. Tork stinks as a first baseman. He is a DH.
  18. It's the downside of constantly moving players around. I guess the upside is match ups and happy clubhouse because everyone plays but to me it's not optimal. Perhaps with better players it will be less frequent.
  19. I like the condensed games on MLBTV. About 9 minutes and you see parts of almost every inning.
  20. Ha ha. That was good. Ok I surrender.
  21. Just speculation of course but it wouldn’t hurt to take some reps pre game and try in the future because he does stink in the outfield as Tork does at first. Carpenter had a better arm. So if he proves good it’s one less bad outfielder and one less poor first baseman. Isn’t multiple positions the Hinch requirement anyways ?
  22. During our rally the scroller said we had an 85 % win probability. Had that changed?
  23. Greene Meadows Verling left to right daily please. If not them then Chana. Maybe try Carpenter at first ? Seriously. Solves two problems.
  24. Already this season has been a roller coaster of highs to low. Being a fan only makes that worse. Sitting here today on the down slope it does seem we do have quite a long way to go unfortunately. I suppose that's why Harris is moving more deliberately thank I like. It's just we have sucked so bad for so long and to see the Orioles not only pass us but reach the top is frustrating. Greene looks good and Keith maybe but at the major league level thats it for position players. I guess Verling might take another step but even so that is three players that can help with the bat and make plays in the field. The rest are one trick ponies.
