He'd love that. 15 assist night incoming.

Did anyone see Draymond's comments on TNT after the game? Sure, everyone is talking about how Jokic used Gobert, but Draymond took it to cheap shot levels. To be expected from Dray I guess since he loves cheap shots in every form.

he'll eventually be on tv as a pundit until he says something too caustic.

chuck says inflammatory things but he's big, lovable charles barkley.  draymond is a bully and a prick.

I'll put it this way.  I've always had a problem with all of the Miguel Cabrera adoration given some of his off field incidents and Chauncey Billups has always had an air of ick factor given his civil suit agreement from his days in Boston.

settling a case does mean you did anything wrong.  we'll never know what actually happened.  he could be guilty as sin or he could have settled something just to avoid the bad publicity.

    we'll never know.

  3. if youre looking at pro athletes for moral upstanding fellows who never cheat on their wives, do stupid ****, or use "enhancements" you are going to be very disappointed.  it takes a fair amount of self control to be that young, rich, and available to turn down a lot of life's temptations.

that's dofferent than the accusations against bridges, of course.  if bridges beat his girlfriend up then he should face criminal penalties, it shouldnt prevent him from working in his chosen profession if he's good enough to do so.

The Oilers-Canucks series has been gripping. Too bad so late for Eastern viewers. Going with Packard over Skinner had to be done. Canucks fans are generally pleased, as the team has outperformed expectations this season and even with a 3rd string goalie are deadlocked with the Oilers. BUT there are some growing rumblings about the relatively low production of Petersson. 1G 3A 4Pts in 10 games.

Hronek is pointless in 10 playoff games. Finished the season with 48 points in 81 games. Not much different pace than the 38 points in 60 games with the Wings the season before. So he is what we thought he was. Didn't really take a big step forward this year after all, offensively.

i think they got a really good return for hronek.  if they didnt, think about the cap crunch they would be in now.

otoh, maybe they dont sign holl, extend maata, and trade for petry so there's that...

which raises a question: Is Elmer still on the radar or is the view that he has plateaued short of the NHL?

i saw a guy who is going to need to increase the aggressiveness and physicality a lot if he wants to succeed in the nhl.  and he hasnt exactly torn up the ahl either.

he's so big and has skilled hands.  he should be tomas holmstrom.  parked in front of the net and digging in corners.  like ras was when he was actually trying/not injured.

but he doesnt.  he floats through games.  unless he wants to get dirty and physical, he'll be back in sweden in a year or two.

  6. i see sasser and sheppherd as bench guys.  shooters with significant defensive frailities and a lack of height (sasser) and defensive athletic ability (sheppherd) to be starters.

pistons should be looking at "who fits with cade".  that's all they should care about.  if that's sheppherd because of his shooting then so be it.

i like devin carter a lot but worry about his shooting.

what else is a message board for than to swap opinions/speculation? 🤷‍♂️

I do think about baseball more than any other sport though because to me the way baseball has changed and evolved is such a marker for how the larger society has changed. I think it is - at least was, more significant than other sports in that regard because it was so much a part of the culture. Some played football, some basketball, a few hockey, but up to and including the boomers everyone played baseball (and/or their girlfriends came and watched). So it was more a common point of shared experience than almost anything else. But that pretty much ended with the boomers and maybe a few Gen Xers, since we were the last cohort to grow up in that sand-lot youth culture that had existed for maybe 80 yrs prior. Everything changes, that's given, but as it happens to things you are so close to it is hard to look away.

baseball was the only major nationwide game in town for a very long time.  when other leagues started to get as much attention people started paying attention and turning their interest to other sports.

baseball will always have outside in the summertime, and for that people will always watch it.  since americans dont have kids anymore, we can import our players like we import everything else.

Who do you suggest the Tigers replace Javy with? Harris may have wanted to but wasn't given the money to get a better replacement? He should quit? The Tigers have more problems than just a light hitting shortstop.

pick a triple a shortstop out of a hat and he'll be better than baez.

there are a lot things killing baseball for youth but the biggest is just that they don't play it, and that I think, is due largely to factors way beyond anyone in the sports control - namely low suburban housing density and small families. You need a bunch of kids closely matched in age to have any chance at a sand lot baseball culture - and it just doesn't exist in many places in the US today. I grew up in a city with lots of 4 kids to a household houses on 1/8 acre lots. We could raise 15 to 20 kids across only a couple of grades to play ball everyday after school. We had 4 diamonds at our Jr high, and 3 more within 1/2 mile of there. There were all full most days. Then we all grew up and played intramural and city league softball. That's where MLBs current fanbase came from. And I doubt that is ever coming back. So all they are left with is trying to make the game more of a spectacle (ie. the HR), to make it entertaining for people who don't have the experience based vicarious identification to what is happening on the field. But it will be a different kind of fan with a different kind of relation to what they are watching.

the thing i like about you is that you have an opinion on everything!  lol.  🙂

So here’s the thing about Marner. He’s a good player, but even if you can get him to waive his NMC, how could you trade him without retaining salary. Let’s say the Leafs say, ok, we want to trade him as a salary dump to sign someone else in his place. But who would actually give up significant assets to acquire him? If he was a free agent with no assets required to be given up, would anyone sign up for $11mm per?

no way i pay marner $11 million.  he's a passenger when the going gets tough and a whiner.

I don't think the Pistons would take Sheppard anyway if Weaver is still around. Sheppard was the one guy I was warming to, he's a pretty high floor prospect. At the worst, you're getting a guy that can shoot the hell out of the ball. I know it's a lazy comparison because...white guy... but Austin Reaves seems like a pretty good comparable and I'd take that guy on my team.

The other guys don't really do much for me. Sarr has a bundle of potential but he's another non-shooter and seems like a project, I've seen another Pistons projects the last few years to last a lifetime. Risacher has the coveted archetype but his 3 ball really fell off, Buzelis same as Risacher. Stephon Castle has an intriguing skillset but, again, a guy that can't shoot. Clingan could be a defensive game changer but he seems more like a late lottery type of guy like Lively. Really isn't much there to be excited about.

draft for culture.  there arent any top prospects available at 5.  what type of team do you want to be?  hard nosed and compete?  take devin carter.  do you want to be orlando and draft for length, length, length?  take clingan or buzelis.

who do they want to be?  other than bad.  lol.
