They lost their starting RG in Robert Hunt too. So taking a guard would not be out of the question for them here either.

    true

And yes I drunkenly yelled this in Ford Field, what’s it to you?

were getting close to your lions-arizona trade up prediction!

I don't get it either. When we lived there I was under the impression that most of the paying fans were in the NW suburbs. Arlington Race Course, to me was always the perfect location. There's a METRA stop close by, enough parking for those from South Barrington or Lake Forest to park. Halas Hall is a lot closer.

They'd be better off building at the Gary Airport, or better yet the Thornton Quarry. There is already a ready made hole there

it is a perfect location.  but the mckaskeys are terrible businessmen who think with their hearts (bear weather, playing on the lakefront) rather than their heads.

these drawings look great but we'll see if it gets built.  there are a lot of interests to keep the lakefront clear of big glass monstrosities.  otoh, the bears have a lot of powerful friends and a stupid, unpopular mayor who needs a PR win.

there is a movement to put the financing on the ballot.  i doubt that will happen because if it did the bears would lose.

    Wait, there's a women's soccer league?

I saw the renderings for the new White Sox stadium and the location looks amazing. I wouldn't mind seeing that get built if the White Sox foot the bill.

Does the soccer team sell out Soldier Field? I thought soccer teams generally play in like 25k seat stadiums? I would like to return Soldier Field to it's original design where you can see the columns from the field. Just shrink it to accommodate soccer.

the soccer team does not come close to selling out soldier field.  they had a smaller stadium built for them 20+ years ago in a southwest suburb but they moved out of it recently.  their fan base is probably milennials who live on the northside and hispanics on the west side.  maybe.

there is a women's soccer team!  it was news to me too.

the sox stadium looks great, but they want at least a billion from the state.  reinsdorf is such a jack ass i hope they get nothing and move to nashville.  eff the sox.  the state still pays them money when they dont get enough fans.

reinsdorf messed up new comiskey 30 years ago.  they had plans to make it a nice open field with lots of street vendors and shops and bars but he nixed it because he wanted everyone to spend their money in the park and lots of paid parking the sox would control.  he's a penny pinching miser with no vision.

I do kind of like what they did with Soldier Field in that rendering. Isn't Chicago's soccer team looking for a stadium? I would remove the spaceship from Soldier Field leaving the columns and rebuild a seating bowl of 25,000 for the soccer team and outdoor concerts. That would fit in better to the park and the Bears could move to the suburbs.

the men's soccer team plays there now.

the white sox also came along with their hand out looking for a new stadium (while also meeting with nashville).  at the same time the women's soccer team said they wanted a new stadium too.  the city is about to go off a financial cliff, the state has some of the worst finances in the country, and jerry reinsdorf/the mckaskeys want billions in hand outs.

they still owe $500 million for the last stadium!

  6. btw, the bears are so stupid.  they spent $200 million on land in the burbs that would be PERFECT for a new stadium/complex.  but they didnt get the tax break they wanted (which they should jave worked out before they bought it but its the bears and they are stupid) so they pouted and moved back to the lakefront.

its the dumbest, most inconvienient place to put a stadium.  far from public transportation, limited parking, traffic jams galore.  but nears ownership - the same idiots that put a toilet bowl on top of soldier field because they didnt want to give up "bear weather" - want a stadium on the lake because the views are great.

THEY WONT OWN THIS STADIUM OUTRIGHT.  just like they dont own soldier field now.

they are the prime example of a bunch of idiots who lucked into the genetic lottery by being related to papa bear halas.  its infuriating how stupid they are at business.

they are going to get a lot of resistance to this plan from the state.  hopefully they grow a pair and tell the bears to gfthemselves.

The Chicago-For-The-People's mayor Brandon Johnson about to whore himself out for the Bears' new stadium.

Mayor Brandon Johnson, who took office less than a year ago after vowing to end decades of disinvestment on Chicago’s West and South sides, enthusiastically endorsed the project, calling the renderings of the futuristic oval-shaped stadium with a translucent roof “miraculous.”

“Today’s announcement is bigger than football,” said Johnson, touting the team’s investment in the city as a vote of confidence in the city’s future and his leadership. “This is a true public investment.”

The cash grab tab is going to come to almost exactly $900 for every man, woman, and child in the city, including those on the disinvested south and west sides.

brandon johnson is a fraud who is so far over his head its hilarious.  well, it would be hilarious if it wasnt so sad.

you'll notice that the chicago teachers union - who used to be against using any public money for stadiums and just demanded a 9% raise per year in perpetuity - is now all about the bears proposal.

and theyre about to reassess the loop and north side property taxes which is going to be a nice surprise for home owners when their taxes go up exponentially because loop buildings are worth 90% less than they used to be.

The Wings actually scored more goals per game without Kane in the lineup than with him in the lineup (and gave up a lot less goals against) though this does include the stretch without Larkin which is probably more of a driving force than Kane being in the lineup.  But something I definitely found interesting.

by fancy stats, at 5v5 the wings were one of the worst teams in the league.  they had pne of the best shooting %s in the league and alex lyon did his best terry sawchuck impersonation for two months.

i expect regression next year without something drastic.  i'd rather see them call up the youngsters and roll with it.

    good discussion on wwp today.

Happy Draft Day everybody. I'm going down for all three days. Ford Field season ticket party tonight, tickets by the draft stage tomorrow, and just walking around enjoying the atmosphere on Saturday.

Hopefully those thunderstorms stay away this weekend, everyone plays by the rules, and everything goes swimmingly. The city really doesn't need a Kansas City parade situation on its hands.

make sure you start the "jared goff" chant when the bears and viqueens are taking qbs.
