  1. i saw him play, he wasnt very good. hopefully because he was injured.
  2. be careful what you wish for. either the rams or the packers will be hard for the lions because of their offenses. i think the lions can handle the packers' defense. if the lions were going to lose, i'd rather NOT lose to the packers. and i'd feel a bit better about losing to stafford if we had to lose.
  3. melifonwu was a disaster at corner in the past. he didnt have the speed to keep up. maybe he's gotten better?
  4. cossa, berggren and a second/third round pick could net you a decent defenseman, imo. especially if its someone with salary who the wings can afford (right now, before they extend seider and raymond). speaking of which, i saw max's piece today saying he sees raymond getting 7 years at 7m aav and seider in the 8 years 8.7m range. that cap space is going to go pretty quickly.
  5. the hit rate on goalies is much much smaller than on any other position, that's why i wouldnt draft one in the first round. cossa is a project with a capital P. he's a big, athletic giraffe, flailing about at the net. its a high risk, high reward risky pick. i wouldnt have made it. i think augustine is a better prospect right now than cossa, he's had more international experience at a younger age than cossa and performed better while doing it. cossa may have a higher ceiling simply because of his size, but i dont think you have to be 6'6 to be a good goalie. being a good goalie is more about positioning and quickeness. augustine seems to have that in spades. and a mid 2nd round pick is a better place to find your goalie, leave the first round for the skaters.
  6. i didnt say you did. i asked why would you. do you put any stock in it?
  7. you think aaron glenn sucks. why would you put any stock in this survey?
  8. i dont hate cossa. i think he was overdrafted, but it is what it is. if we can trade him for defensive help - or goalie help - immediately, i would do it.
  9. you make so many assumptions in that paragraph to support your original strained premise that its hard to keep up. lol. college football is as dependent in the head coach as it is the boosters. ol miss is having a pretty good run at recruiting. is it because its somehow close to a major market? texas a & m has been #1 in recruiting for multiple seasons, is it because recruits finally realized rhe benefits of nightlife in college station? georgia's rise on the field - its been very good at recruiting for a very long time - has more to do with kirby smart than the drive down 75 to atlanta. come on, g2. as for your premise about the death of alabama football, i give you this:
  10. northwestern does not recruit above their weight. meanwhile, tuscaloosa alabama does pretty well. and i wouldnt call that paris on the chatahoochie. i have been to baton rouge and its....fine. depending on which side of town youre on. i wouldnt want to live there, for sure that said, ann arbor is a nice town. a "happening" place it is not. the point being that what attract$ recruit$ i$ not the number of intere$ting thing$ middle aged adult$ like us like to do in the location at i$$ue, but rather the $tate of fhe football program and certain other "amenitie$$$$$". otherwise northwestern, san diego state, cal berkley, NYU, Tufts, and boston college would be prime recruiting hotbeds. yet they are not.
  11. darko milicic: nba champion.
  12. as opposed to ann arbor? lol. if "where" were a major concern NYU and northwestern would be recruiting hot beds.
  13. dunno. burks and bogey shot really well. as you might imagine, defense was optional. an option the pistons chose not take.
  14. and just like that, the dream of 2 wins out of 3 is over. the streak is dead! long live the new streak! 2 down, 27 more to go for the new record. then we'll get back on espn! you'll see!
  15. now we can go back to 3 or 4 posts a game! cause no one cares until they lose 28 in a row again. bogey and burks shooting well tonight. trade em both while you still can!
  16. all the stuff that came out of miami about what a jerk flores was should make a judge dismiss that lawsuit immediately. mike macdonald (and tyreek hill) turned tua into an actual nfl qb. that guy deserves a spot in the hall of fame. flores can go coach defense somewhere.
  17. harbaugh: 1) raiders 2) chargers 3) falcons 4) f/k/a redskins 5) michigan 6) carolina 7) bears
  18. sure, but your post was all about "look at all the stuff the lions do behind the scenes. they dont ruffle feathers and they get respect with the league because of it." my point is that dallas' ownership does everything it can to make the league look stupid on a regular basis. yet they continue to get much more respect from the league and its officials than the lions ever do. oh boy! we got the draft one year! dallas got it before us. oh boy, we got a super bowl! so did dallas. being nice gets you nothing in business. be ruthless.
  19. bryce underwood will take the money and commit to LSU on saturday. at least he's doing it while michigan is distracted by this whole "national championship" thing.
  20. the fords have owned the lions almost as long as the cowboys have been in existence! **** jerry jones. **** dallas. and **** the nfl. come on sheila. call out the old boys club. you'll be a hero.
  21. yeah, all that behind the scenes stuff is really making a difference! meanwhile, jerry jones publicly embarasses the league constantly, fights with roger goodell over everything, talked about replacing goodell publicly, was involved in the gruden email scandal, will make public pronouncements about the officials AND took a shot at the lions in THIS instance. and what difference has it made? do the refs screw the cowboys on a regular basis? does the league disfavor dallas? had it made their lives more difficult in any manner? no. no. and no. dont let yourself get clowned, sheila. rod wood isnt doing **** behind the scenes. and if he is, what difference has it made? the league released a clown show video purporting to show how the LIONS were wrong. nothing was said about the obvious mistake its official made. AND to top it off, the immediate response from those reporters connected to the league was "well akshually, the refs made a mistake on the tripping call previously so stfu lions." if this is rod wood making a difference i would hate to see him be ineffective!
  22. lol. hey adam silver, force the franchise to make changes! the league can do that. theyre embarassing your product.
  23. im not talking about threatening it, im saying she should remind the league what a valuable partner FOMOCO has been for a very very long time. and that the family sometimes resents feeling like a punching bag for the league. not threatening to pull the ads. the nfl has no shortage of buyers for its ad space.
  24. that's another reason why she should say something. because she is a "girl." throw it in their faces. throw it right back at the ol boys club. especially that senile old pervert jerry jones. call bull**** for what it is. break a few eggs. its not like sitting there quietly and never saying anything has ever gotten the lions any respect or favorable decisions ever. lets try a different approach.
  25. the whole thing makes me angry when i think about it. blame the victim. that's all this is. and the lions front office sits there and takes it. says nothing. jerry jones got to mouth off, sheila should mouth off right back. "rod wood is handling it." yeah, he handled it so effectively the league issued a flawed video and lectured the lions even the video itself showed the lions doing nothing wrong. stick up for your franchise, sheila! all this "behind the scenes" garbage gets you nothing but walked over. not only do you own a franchise, your company is a major advertiser for the league. use some leverage for once! wtf is jerry jones other than an oil leech? throw your weight around and tell the league to kiss your ass.
