goff and geno both have questions to answer this year. i dont think that's a controversial opinion. as long as ben johnson is here, i think goff will be a fine game manager, which is what they want him to be. dont turn the ball over, manage the game, dont put the defense in a bad position.
-
ergo the first line in my post you cited.
-
we got smoked by carolina so i better not see anybody put carolina below us! lol. i actually think carolina will be pretty good this year, but will be held back a bit by the rookie qb.
-
i think wiseman is less than worthless. he's a net negative, especially given his salary. terrible, atrocious pick up by weaver. unless, like you say, it was a stealth tank move. given his love for worthless bigs, i doubt it.
-
geno smith is being asked that question. so is goff. goff was awful for two years and was one of the most turnover prone qbs in the league, and then went the second half of the season without having a single turnover. is that repeatable? probably not. the lions and seahawks are in the same tier, imo. they both have weaknesses. the lions have brought in some players to address the secondary weakness, but havent really addressed their weakness in stopping the run.

12-11-1 is mediocre at best. lions should be favored to win the division on paper, after that? who knows? we focus solely on the lions. other teams added players too.
-
the lions have some money to burn, so they may be looking to add some more folks that could make them better.
-
i'll believe detroit is better than seattle when they make them punt. once. seattle has bitch slapped the lions two straight seasons. beat them first before we start crowing about how good we are. dallas too. the lions in that same group as seattle and dallas is about where they belong. below the niners and eagles.
-
athletic power rankings has lions at 13. 5th in nfc behind eagles, niners, cowboys, and seahawks.
-
i like that pickup a lot for detroit. ibrahim was a good back at minnesota.
-
i did enjoy the recent pistons twitter rant on how james wiseman was the worst player in the nba this year: selfish and stupid on offense, lazy and stupid on defense.

if warriors-lakers goes seven games it will be one of the most watched games since the advent of cable tv.

they were rebuilding when stafford made that request. new regime. this is a team that is allegedly ready to compete for championships. they might trade goff if hooker is a revelation. or sign him to a deal that allows them to get rid of him cheaply in another extra year in exchange for more guaranteed cash if hooker is just an ordinary 3rd rounder. but they certainly dont have to acquiesce to a trade request. this scenario is (hopefully) nothing like the situation when stafford asked to be dealt.
-
they dont have to grant it. and then he'd have to hold out and lose $$$. the lions hold all the cards with goff. he can play out his contract and they can franchise him if they want to.
-
how long until troy offers him $20 mil per?
-
what choice will he have?
-
hooker was drafted because they think he can be a good qb. that's it. that's why.

edvinnson out 4-6 months after shoulder surgery

if i had to rank the nfc north right now, i would say: 1) lions 2) packers 3) bears 4) vikings the vikes has the best player in the division, but little else imo.
-
dont forget seattle. the lions havent made the seahawks punt in two years, much less beat them.
-
they still havent done a ton to fix their main issues on the defensive line and their oline is still subpar. remember that sewell was ok as a rookie, but made a ton of mistakes. bears will be starting a rookie at one tackle and a 5th round pick at the other (last seen being bullrushed into justin fields' legs by james houston). they signed a guard but still have oft injured failed tackle prospect tevin jenkins at the other and failed free agent lucas patrick at center. their oline is still subpar. at dline they have....no one but some mid round draft picks. they signed some off ball linebackers to massive contracts which should be an upgrade over the udfa's they were running out there last year. the secondary has some names of players who were decent (johnson), were once good until they got paid (eddie jackson), and two rookies last seen failing to even try to tackle d'andre swift (brisker and gordon). the rise of the bears is greatly exaggerated, imo. the houston texas took kc and dallas to overtime in the last few weeks of the season. everyone plays close games in the nfl. the fact that the bears did too doesnt mean much to me. their season comes down to fields. is he lamar jackson 2019 or just a more athletic mitch trubisky?
-
bears should win 6-7 games.
-
hatred of james harden or hatred of boston? its a tough choice but i have to root for philly.
-
i dont think the lions are done. june 1st cuts havent happend yet either.
-
lions will be the favorites, but i think the packers will be better than people think.
