I feel like we more traded out of that pick to get Datsyuk's contract off the books so they could take a run at Stamkos, not so that he could drop down for Cholowski. Not that it is any better (even if I don't think Chychrun is a stud - he's at least in the NHL and has stretches of putting up points) but I don't think it was ever done with Cholowski in mind unless I missed something.

Maybe it is just me but I would rather him chip the puck out in that situation not try to put the puck between his own legs, especially because he was trapped by 3 Flyers. Yes it was unfortunate he was outnumbered and the Seider pass wasn't perfect, but I don't agree that the play he made was the right one. Also get Zadina off line 1 he looks awful

Oof Larkin caught a weird edge and went down hard. He went off the ice slowly during play...hopefully nothing.

I think this is the first time I've noticed this, but Zadina made an absolutely god awful play that lost the Wings possession in the zone (okay we've seen that before but hold on...) and instead of skating around moping he made a hard play against a player on the boards and won the puck. He was able to make a nice pass to get a re-entry into the zone. It was one of the few times (only times?) that I can remember Zadina initiating physical contact to win a puck so successfully, good to see him do it after flubbing a deke.

Nice pass by Smith to Veleno to make it 1-0! Smith and Sundqvist did a lot of dirty work in front of the net while Veleno skated and picked his spot.

Happy about the 2nd. Sundqvist is whatever, fourth line PK guy. Walman was once highly thought of as a prospect but has slipped down rankings every year. Then he was relegated to sheltered / 7th d minutes. At this point probably not much there but some guys develop late so maybe it can be a little something.
