  1. I am glad Manning wants to be really good! He could be, but he still needs to strike guys out during the regular season.
  2. I liked him. He seemed as if he was a friendly person and was very open (maybe too much). I also think he collected a number of good prospects and refused to trade any of them away and that is helping them now. Overall, he wasn't a very good GM though. I think Harris is going to be a lot better, but it's too early to know how good. His team having some real success at the MLB level would be a good start.
  3. Thanks for reminding me. I have been meaning to get it for a while. I just ordered it.
  4. You aren't turning anyone in the MAGA cult. You want to get the long-term Republicans, who still think Reagan is President and that they have to vote Republican no matter what. They won't vote for Biden, but they might not vote for Trump.
  5. That sounds like management speak. Not my thing. Probably correct, but impossible for me to know which ones are good at it.
  6. I agree. It's a matter of them hiring the right guys to make make those decisions.
  7. I knew you were going to say that!
  8. I think the former VP not endorsing the President should be a really big deal. Unfortunately, Pence is too boring for the media to make it one.
  9. I am surprised too. I expected a wishy washy non-committal answer.
  10. Just to be clear, I like Harris more than Avila and the next Tigers playoff team will be more Harris than Avila. I just think they glorification of Harris and dismissing of Avila by some fans is a little much.
  11. Maybe the Avila administration was able to see his innate talent and then the Harris administration knew how to take that talent and transform it. Then again, maybe he' s not that good and won't succeed in the majors. But that would be Avila's fault. 😃
  12. You are right that there a number of things they could do. What I am thinking though is whether there is enough talent available to benefit from further starter minimization. Theoretically, it might be ideal to have unlimited rosters with one fresh strong pitcher pitching each new inning - nine pitchers per game. But are there enough MLB caliber pitchers to make that work? There has to be a point of diminishing returns
  13. Are there enough MLB caliber pitchers available to take it further than it already has gone? it may have reached a point where diminishing returns will be the result, especially with plans for expansion.
  14. But chicks dig the longball.
  15. Dylan Cease to the Padres for three prospects. It looks like the White Sox got a decent haul, but I am really glad the Tigers are no longer in a position where they are trading established players for prospects. The team getting the established player wins that trade more often than not.
  16. Trump's psychopathic behavior has been normalized to the point of absurtity. He has been treated way too well.
  17. I think the more likely predictor than what he did yesterday was what he has done over the past year. That might be less true for young players. For them, you have to hope that they have made improvements, but those are difficult to determine over a small sample of games versus veterans who aren't trying their hardest.
  18. yet, they seemed to be in the groove at the end of spring training 2023 and then...
  19. I don't think there is any correlation between spring training and the regular season. Last year, the Tigers hit well in spring training and couldn't hit at all when they came north. I liked their rotation's chances going into this March and was skeptical about the offense (at least for this year). That feeling is not going to change no matter what happens this spring.
  20. On the other hand, Today's shortstops are expected to contribute a lot more offense than they used to provide
  21. Anybody could have picked him, but a lot of fans didn't like the pick. If he succeeds, whoever was responsible for the pick deserves a lot of credit.
  22. Glad you like it. It's a great series.
  23. Platooning teams win championships when they have enough good players.
  24. It's not much different from pushing drugs. They are making a profit on people with addictions.
  25. He has creepd me out for over 40 years. Sadly, I knew his lack of empathy and shallowness represented a large proportion of Americans. Even more than I realized it turns out.
