  1. I don't believe Chas has made a habit of that.
  2. That might say as much about Leyland and Anderson as it does about the Astros front office.
  3. I don't disagree, but some cheating is accepted (not saying it should be) and is largely overlooked. Hinch was not OK with the Astros cheating (or so he said) and it happened anyway. So, it seems like he was either dishonest or not respected enough. Personally, I think Hinch is a good manager overall and I am willing to forget what happened in Houston, but it's still not a good look on his past record.
  4. This does not apply to any player in particular, but I found it amusing.
  5. The question I have about Hinch is he supposedly didn't want them to cheat and they cheated anyway. That makes him seem like a weak leader. And I know everybody is going to tell me there was nothing he could do about it. I understand that sentiment, but it's still difficult to see that happening to Leyland or Anderson.
  6. I have a friend who thinks that Trump is terrible and he voted for Biden in 2020. He told me today that he can no longer vote for Biden because of his mental state. I would bet that there are many like him.
  7. He didn't really have a position with the Tigers but it's pretty close between LF and 2B. If I listed him as a LF, he'd probably be #3 behind Veach and Horton. One thing that's tricky in ranking multi-position players is figuring out how to score his defense as a second baseman who played left field or a left fielder who played second base. If I say he's a left fielder, do I give him credit for second base defense in comparing him to Higginson? The same problem happens at second base.
  8. When I did all-time top tens for the Tigers, it was hard to figure out where to put Phillips, but I settled on second base because I thought of him as an infielder and I believe he would have played second if not for Whitaker. I ranked him #4 behind Gehringer, Whitaker and McAuliffe.
  9. I was referring to Fryman.
  10. What if he's never ready? He is certainly a strong prospect, but a lot of stuff happens on the way to being an MLB regular.
  11. It is their weakest position. It's either him or Kell.
  12. It is pretty obvious that the media is now in it for money only. They want to normalize Trump's psychopathy because it's worth big money to him.
  13. Well, he did strikeout 8 straight batters!
  14. He'll have to raise his walk rate if he is going to get on base at a .340 clip. He has just 15 walks in 250 PA. He has shown very little power either, but I think that will come later.
  15. Is he leading? Most of the polls have Trump leading. Also, this wasn't just a bad debate. It was the worst debate since Admiral James Stockdale! And, while the debate may have been his worst moment, there have have been concerns among voters that he is too old and weak. So, the timing was really bad.
  16. How about JD Martinez? 4th on the Tigers all-time in OPS+. I really wish he was with the Tigers longer. Cobb 171 Greenberg 161 Heilmann 149 JD Martinez 147 Crawford 147 Cabrera 140 Cash 139 Tettleton 135 https://stathead.com/baseball/player-batting-season-finder.cgi?request=1&match=player_season_combined&order_by=b_onbase_plus_slugging_plus&ccomp[1]=gt&cval[1]=1500&cstat[1]=b_pa&team_id=DET
  17. So, far I am agreeing with everyone in this thread! That doesn't happen too often. 😀
  18. Tettleton and Phillips were awesome. Everybody talked about Fielder, but both of those guys were better than him.
  19. He was arguably the Tigers best third baseman ever.
  20. Absolutely correct. We can talk politics all we want, but everything always comes down to money. The culture war stuff is just a side show to keep the peons happy.
  21. I am not sure they could make these jerseys any uglier.
  22. He should have learned from Obama. He talked hesitantly all the time, but was probably the best communicator of any President of my lifetime.
  23. They can still evaluate young players while plugging in some short-term veterans via free agency or trade. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. They don't have enough legit young players to fill a MLB roster.
  24. Starting your holiday celebration a little early?
  25. What percent voted in 2020, but won't vote in 2024?
