Unless you can get a premium player at a relatively young age (which usually means late 20s), free agents are one of the worst ways to a build a team. The top free agents are usually old and expensive. They are most useful to teams that are already good and need one or two more players to get them to the playoffs.

I used to like Benintendi, but he has never really developed as expected. He gets on base but doesn't really do anything else. His power has regressed, his defense is about average at one of the least infuential positions. He would be good to have for his on base skills, but not somebdy to build around on a five year contract.

It could be either. Many of his supporters are dumb enough to buy them. Why anyone would buy an NFT from anyone is beyond me. It's a total scam.

Frazier is boring, but not terrible. It kind of depends on what role he would play. Would he be the starting 2B or a utility guy who also plays outfield? I don't know that he is more likely than Schoop to bounce back next year.

Still, his 84 OPS+ is not bad in comparison to last years line-up.

I just looked up his numbers: .233/.282/.429. for his career. Nolt bad. He wouldn't be the worst hitter in their line-up.

It would be a downgrade at shortstop for 2024, but perhaps the money saved is used for an upgrade elsewhere. Hopefully, he has a good first half and they can get something for him before he leaves.

The mullet is OK if he's going to be a reliever. Otherwise, no.

Shop all the relief pitchers. Relievers have a lot more value to a bad team in trades than they have on the field.

Good interview with Malloy by FanGraphs. If this guy is any good, he is going to be a big fan favorite. He reminds me a little of Curtis Granderson.

Apparently, Justyn-Henry Malloy goes by the name of J-Hen. So, it's J-Hen the MudHen. I prefer Hank Malloy. That's the name of a hitter.

I started getting the flu shot regularly 7 years ago when I started teaching again. I do think it helps.

They probably won't be better on the field in 2023. I am looking to see what kinds of smaller moves they make and also looking to see how their injured pitchers progress. I can see them not making big moves this off-season and then going for it next year after they shed Cabera's salary and get more info on their young pitchers.

There are reasons for concern. However, they just did a major shakeup of the front office. It's hard to be patient given the last several years, but I think it's fair to give them some time.
