  1. Mop-up guy and emergency starter seems like the only role for him.
  2. I'd rather they start Paddack and Melton. Morton has been horrible this year.
  3. I know you are trying to make lemonade out of lemons, but I heard players saying this week on a broadcast that they wanted the Tigers to make additions. A couple of them said they would love having Suarez as a teammate.
  4. Charlie Morton essentially has to make to the 25-man roster. That seems like a waste of a roster spot. What do they plan to do with him?
  5. Charlie Morton was acquired for his veteran presence.
  6. Perhaps, better than Finnegan. But both would have been nice.
  7. Not sanguine, just low expectations. I was hoping for more, but I knew that the right deal wasn't necessarily going to happen.
  8. I wouldn't say it wouldn't improve their chances of winning the World Series at all, but it wouldn't change it enough to make it worth giving up top prospects. If you are going to give up top prospects, you need to acquire players that can help you longer than just this season and post-season. The only exception might be acquiring an ace starter. I think that's the only type of player that can boost your chances of winning the World Series enough where you might take the chance. Even then though, the Tigers never won it all with Verlander and Scherzer.
  9. That's OK By asking questions, this allows people to pretend that they are smart or have no life.
  10. Yes, Heuer had been added to the 40-man, Enns is out. Heuer assigned to Toledo.
  11. The Tigers acquired Codi Heuer for cash considerations. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/heuerco01.shtml
  12. Sewald would be a solid addition if healthy, but I have leaned never to expect anything from a pitcher coming off an injury. He's OK as a cheap pickup, but I wish they had acquired one more healthy reliever. They still might, but I suspect not.
  13. Finnegan is kind of a meh closer, but should be fine given the way Hinch uses the buillpen. I still hope they are not done even if it's just another guy at his level.
  14. Sewald is a fine cheap acquisition. I am just not confident he'll contribute a lot coming off an injury.
  15. It wasn't a serious post. Just a comment about how it's hard to manage a team when everytbody is hurt.
  16. Or fire their medical staff. Don't really know if they are at fault, but their pitching staff has been hit hard with injuries.
  17. OK, Then maybe the Tigers can take a salary off their hands in exchange for non-elite prospects.
  18. Sounds like poor planning.
  19. I was responding to the post that said that cease and Suarez were available! Not the one which announced the trade with the Athletics.
  20. Why would the Padres be selling? They are three games out of first and are currently in position for a wildcard.
  21. I have no problem with these moves because you always want depth and they cost very little. But how is this building for October? What are the odds of Montero or Sewald making an impact in October? I hope something bigger is afoot.
  22. Sewald? Is Harris really going to go the bargain basement route to build a post-season roster? I hope he is just taking flyers on these guys and still has a big move in mind.
  23. I agree that October is mostly a dice roll, but I also think that good pitching becomes a little more important with all the days off, so you get a little advantage with top pitching rather than depth. I also don't think acquiring a reliever or two needs to set them back years.
  24. They are not adversarial toward him. He brings it all on himself and most of it is deliberate.
  25. No, it can't. It's something that comes from within.
