I don't defend criminals. I want due process for all. I also don't want my tax dollars wasted on a Trump tough guy show which is what most of this is about.

Flaherty is not likely to get 20 million but he got 14 million from the Tigers in 2024 and he is probably worth a little more now than he was then. He might be able to get a worthwhile two-year deal somewhere. I agree that he probably won't opt out though unless he surges down the stretch and in the playoffs.

I think the hoax theory isn't going to work for him since his supporters and those around him are the ones who pushed the story the hardest. Connecting the dots, I think there is a good chance he was involved in some horrible things. At the very least, I think he knew what was happening and is covering it up. I also think we'll never know what happened. Wealthy powerful people pretty much always get away with everything. Even if the women revealed names, they'd be called liars and maybe intimidated or bribed into changing their stories. Keeping the story in the news and hurting Trump politically and legacy-wise is probably the maximun we could hope for.

I believe Meadows in centerfield and Baez playing more shortstop would help the pitching staff.

I agree. If you want to honor a player who has retired, just have a day for him. The Tigers signed Al Cicotte to a six-day contract in 1977 long after he retired, so he could qualify for a pension. He was in poor health and was having financial problems. In that case, it was a nice gesture.

It's just one day though. He could pick both!

They made it through one round last year and could have made it two rounds if Skubal was sharp in game five versus the Indians. The playoffs are getting to be more like bullpen games every year. The bigger problem might be their bullpen which was better last year.

Yes, you are right. I read the article too quickly. He does seem to hire masculine looking tough guy types who will make him look good and appeal to his base. He has also been surrounded by Chris Christie, Elon Musk and Stephen Miller.

With 16 teams making the playoffs and 4 team divisions, I think sub-.500 making the playoffs will be a faily common occurrence.

Politicians are politicians, but he did have some good in him at one time. I think he has a drinking problem.

I don't like the idea of a split season because it goes against tradition. However, If they expand the playoffs to 16 teams which I am pretty sure they will, then the regular season becomes almost meaningless. So, I wouldn't be upset if they did the half season thing. Seeing a team win a half season is more exciting than watching teams battle for 16th place. It's not like they are having two distinct halves with playoffs at mid-season. I also think the team that wins the first half probably would be one of the top 16 teams at the end anyway.
