  1. It seemed substantial compare to the prior 9 years or so. I guessed your interprtation of why it was dropped, but didn't want to get too political in here.
  2. Why did they raise the interests substantially in 2018 and then bring them back down again? My assumption was they were proactively raising rates to stave off potential inflation from the tax cuts. Maybe someone smarter than me can explain what happened.
  3. He gave you the right's serious answer.
  4. I don't think Trump wanted to be president though. He can get more money and plenty of attention and have more fun with Trump Media. He wouldn't have to any of the boring President stuff. He could even have rallies. He'd be like Carlson or Hannity telling a puppet president what to do.
  5. I think you'll be left alone if you're a straight White Christian male with some wealth.
  6. I don't think we can. I have grown to realize that the divisions in this country are much bigger than I always assumed. Social media didn't bring it on. It exposed it and gave more people a voice to express their differences. The extremes are much more highly populated than I realized. Balkanization seems reasonable to me. The questions are can it be done relatively peacefully? And can it be can be done, so the different parts can thrive economically and militarily?
  7. This makes no sense to me. Please clarify.
  8. Someone in a coma is an obvious human being who has had a whole life of thoughts and feelings which are easy to empathize with. There is even some evidence that they may contiunue to have thoughts and feelings while in a coma. That person also most likely has friends and family who love them and would be devastated by the loss so the empathy extends to them. It is very unlikely that an embryo has any of that at a meaningful level.
  9. You certainly do not. In fact, I have not seen evidence in my life that religious people have more empathy than non-religious people. but how does one feel empathy for something that almost certaintly does not have any awareness? I can't believe that an embryo at three weeks is an actual person that feels pain, feels sadness or distress or even has any awareness of human existence. You can certainly feel that that every potential life lost is a bad thing, but I don't see where empathy comes in.
  10. Those are exactly my feelings.
  11. That sounds like religion to me.
  12. It's almost like they should have started doing this years ago.
  13. Maybe they didn't like Clinton and didn't think she offered anything, so they weren't interested. Maybe they don't care about the democraic party. It's their right. If Sanders didn't get them excited, they probably wouldn't have voted in the primaries either.
  14. I don't think most of us here are going to do that! Social media is really about who you follow though. It's not hard to stay away from unreasonable people. Also, stay away from the "trending" click bait. It's never a good idea to click on that stuff.
  15. They probably blame you guys. You could have voted for Sanders and you didn't.
  16. Harold Castro can play those positions too. I don't get the impression he is a great defender, but can he be worse than Castro? It's hard to say. Castro might not be as bad as Castro if he played every day.
  17. You don't even have to go back to 2003. Look at 2019!
  18. I don't think he's viewed as a future starter. I believe his ultimate role would be utility player.
  19. Hinch wouldn't let them pee before the game and not until they scored a run.
  20. I thought they were quite boring.
  21. I don't think any defensive statistic is really that accurate at this point in the season. A simple one like DER might more sense at this point, but I'd like to see what it looks like a little later.
  22. According to Baseball Savant, the team is -6 Outs Below Average Schoop is the best in baseball +5 and H. Castro (-6) is the worst. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/outs_above_average?type=Fielder&startYear=2022&endYear=2022&split=no&team=&range=year&min=q&pos=&roles=&viz=hide According to FanGraphs, the Tigers are -5 runs below average which is 26th. It's all small sample sizes of course.
  23. I think she is a very weak prospect analyst and Baseball America made a mistake hiring her as their Tigers prospect writer. While she is badly miscast as a prospect expert, she has apparently been influential in the advances made in the treatment of minor league players. I also feel very bad for anyone who has to endure cancer.
  24. I think some people had overly high expectations for the Tigers going into the year. They aren't that good and they over performed somewhat last year. This is still a development year. The only way they were going to be a strong contender was if all the key young players broke out this year which is always a longshort. What dissapointments me most is that three of the most important young players that we wanted to watch are hurt. Hopefully, their development is only delayed. Their pitching actually hasn't been bad and their hitting will get better.
