  1. Probably never. You can't disrespect the veteran. Pudge Rodriguez pouted all season when Trammell took him out of the third spot.
  2. OK, I misunderstood. I don't really think Detroit had a rivalry with Boston and New York. I just personally loved seeing them beat those teams. I have always kind of liked the Blue Jays. With so much access to every major league team on tv/radio/internet today, I care less about rivalries now.
  3. I actually think all rivalries are starting to die out now that pennant races no longer exist.
  4. I hear about other rivalries too - Cardinals/Cubs and Dodgers/Giants. I never really heard about a Blue Jays/Tigers rivalry. I don't doubt that it was a rivalry bassd on what people are saying here, but I have a hard time believing it was anything like Yankees/Red Sox. I bet fans don't go to Redwings or Pistons games and chant "Blue Jays suck!"
  5. yeah, this is why I wondered whether it was a big rivalry localy, because it's not something I noticed from afar.
  6. I think I took that test at work too. I take so many tests for HIPAA, human subjects research, equity, etc and I forget the details five minutes after taking the tests. The tests are so boring and the hard part is that you actually have to pass the tests or else you have to keep on doing it which keeps you from getting your real work done. The thing is though, I don't need to take these tests to know that I would get in big trouble if a family member used data to which I had access for nefarious purposes. I know that's probably not a great analogy, but I needed to relate it to my work.
  7. I have been around for the entire Blue Jays history and I don't remember them having a big rivalry with the Tigers. It was not recognized as a rivalry nationally, but maybe it was considered one locally. I think in order for there to be a serious good rivalrvy between two teams, they need to be good at the same time which didn't happen too often with the Tigers and Blue Jays. As a fan, I remember wanting the Tigers to beat the Orioles (when they were really good), Yankees and Red Sox. Other than 1987, I didn't consider the Blue Jays to be a hated opponent.
  8. I like the old minor league parks with their indiosyncrasies. It's part of the experience for me. It's not the same as going to a MLB game packed with over 30,000 people where I just want to be comfortable. Minor league baseball is a different story.
  9. is Rubenesque a lefty or a righty?
  10. If Jimenez doesn't make the roster, who is going to take the role of fat hard throwing reliever?
  11. Or was he going good when he hit lefties?
  12. I don't think Joe Biden is innocent with respect to his son's dealings. However, that seems like run of the mill political corruption versus an attempt to tear down the basis of our democracy.
  13. I share your view that I don't have any feelings about him as a person one way or the other. Usually when elderly public figures, even ones that I liked, reach the end (which he probably hasn't), I typically start reflecting on my own life. When I think of Thomas, I think of 1991 which was a good time in my life. I was at my peak athletically, the Tigers were hitting the ball hard and I had plenty of time to enjoy it! Seriously, that is how I remember him. Strangely, when I think of Anita Hill, I think of my current life since we work in the same department (We have had only a couple of very brief conversations over the years). So, in a way, I associate Thomas with a more youthful time in my life and Hill with my current old age. 😃
  14. Everything with him is a grifting opportunity. He is making even more money off Biden's presidency than his own presidency and he doesn't have to be inconvenienced with having a job.
  15. Del Bozo Way too easy.
  16. Hinch said at the end of last year that Willi Castro has some to do to be a major leaguer. You rarely hear a manager talk that way about someone who has been on the roster for a couple of years. Maybe, he did some work over the winter which changed his status, but that wasn't a good sign. Personally, I think a utility guy who can't play middle infield and has played little outfield doesn't belong on the roster.
  17. so...nothing matters in Spring training. Once the games begin, Spring training performamce instantly disappears. Keep everyone healthy and let the real games begin. There are so many interesting players to follow this year.
  18. They never do anything when it counts! Good thing, spring training games don't count. 😀
  19. They said it was only for the 2020 season.
  20. Adam Darowski loves the Tigers.
  21. MLB. He'll be working at Fenway.
  22. They did say it's only for 2022.
  23. So, the ghost runner is back this year and it is apparently starting in the 10th inning. No extra inning games for me. Two things I will never stop complaining about: (1) Expanded playoffs (2) ghost runners.
  24. A friend of mine just got a job inspecting the field before the game for hidden cameras and watching games to see any evidence of sign stealing. Sounds like a great job. Watching baseball for a living!
  25. Too nuanced for Buddha. He just likes to give us his hot take.
