I think I would be more concerned if he was swinging at balls in the dirt. Those guys seem to never get going. He can probably hit AAA breakng balls. He needs to learn to hit them in the majors. But I have no scouting credibility at all, so don't listen to me. 😄

I haven't watched all the games, but when I have seen him he looks like he's close. There are lots of swings and misses, but he is not swinging at many bad pitches. I think he'll get going.

I am watching the Oakland Athletics broadcast. Their color man (Dallas Braden?) says that Torkelson does not look over matched and that the Tigers should keep running him out there until he figures it out. I have no idea how much Braden can be trusted, but it was interesting to hear the opinion of an opposing former player.

Yeah, I am not worried about him. He was kind of rushed, so it's not surprising that he is struggling. Plus, he tends to have an adjustment period at each level.

The problem with Jerk Sox is that it could refer to either of the Sox teams.

It seems unnecessary given the size of the pitching staffs today, but it happens so infrequenly that it doesn't bother me. If there is one game where Harold Castro has to pitch in a 14-0 blow out, it doesn't hurt anything. I think it's entertaining and it's something that has happened throughout the history of the game.

Anthony Rendon batted left-handed for the first time in his career when the Rays brought in a position player (Brett Phillips) to pitch. Rendon homered. Sounds like it was an entertaining game!

My mom has gone through every stage of dementia. My dad has gone through the natural cognitive decline of an elderly person. Biden is a lot more like my dad than my mom. That being said, I think he's old for a president as was Trump. I'd like to see younger leaders in a position which involves a lot of stamina.

It is surprising than a MAGA can see an ailment in Biden, but can't see that their cult leader is suffering from so many mental health problems that he can't stay coherent for more than 30 seconds.

Did he throw the ball up on the roof over and over and catch it as it fell off? Did he get yelled at when he practiced line drives and grounders by throwing the ball hard against the garage? How many times did he climb a ladder to retrieve balls stuck in the gutter?

Interesting article, but I still think offense will increase soon. If it doesn't they'll juice the ball up again.

That is true every Spring, although probably a little more this year with the shortened spring training. The home run rates and batting averages across baseball will go up soon.

The home run rate so far is the same it was back in 2010-2014 when the Tigers had good teams! The ball is not the problem. The Tigers are the problem.

Dead balls are good for the game. If there are really dead balls this year and it's not just a weather thing, the Tigers will need to adjust long term. MLB will surely liven them up though.
