  1. Torres is getting one year 15 million according to Petzold, so that makes the deal a bargain and shouldn't prevent them from making other moves. That makes me like the deal more.
  2. I am sure Hinch has the infield plans all mapped out and it's probably not going to be as simple as putting Torres at 2B and moving Keith to 3B. There will likely be a lot of moving parts. Ultimately, they have improved their offense, but their infield defense is poor.
  3. At least they didn't have to give up Boyd to get him! I am neither excited nor unhappy with this move. He has a career 112 OPS+ as a middle infielder and crushes lefties and he's just 27, but his fielding numbers are bad. It will be interesting to see where everyone plays in the infield.
  4. I agree with most of what Ramaswamy said in that article. Unfortunately, Trump is the antitheses of everything he says that he wants to see happen. That is because Ramaswarmy is a hypocrite who really just wants money and power.
  5. If a team is involved in extra inning games all year and then wins by one-run in regulation, it's still a small margin even though it's cleaner than an extra inning victory. 49.9% of voters voted for Trump. 48.4% voted for Harris. It is more decisive than winning the electoral and losing the popular vote, but it is not a big margin.
  6. There is always going to be a lot of risk and uncertainty when you sign a good free agent. If you ever want to sign a top free agent, you'll have to take that risk. A lot if is timing. Some people think the Tigers aren't ready to take that risk because they aren't yet in a position where one one player is necessearily going to make the difference. On the other hand, they have two more years of the best pitcher in baseball, so maybe now is the time.
  7. One more starter, one reliever and one right handed hitter is exactly what I expect the Tigers to get the rest of the off-season and they don't have to be free agent signings. They won't necessarily be as good as Bregman, Sasaki and Yates. In fact, that seems like an unlikely scenario.
  8. I don't think Bregman would be a disaster in Comerica. He'll lose a few homers, but might get more hits. As long as he gets his walk rate back up, he'll be fine. I would count on Harris and his team to have a good theory as to why he was swinging more last year and use that in deciding whether ot not to pursue him.
  9. I don't think it's very credible. I don't doubt they are interested in all three, but I don't know how anyone would know the details about how many teams are in on these guys. Bregman trends 24/7 on Twitter and there are all kinds of rumors about the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets and Tigers still being interested. Harris plays very close to the vest, so he's not going to let things leak. Pretty much every move he has made as Tigers GM has comeout of nowhere.
  10. Nothing says Merry Christmas like telling people to go to hell.
  11. Yes, for exmple I still put up the family Christmas creche every year even though neither I nor my remaining family members are religious. It has been displayed in my family home every year of my life and the feeling of continuity is comforting.
  12. I'll take that too! I think the Tigers are ready to win now in a winnable division and I don't think they need to wait two years for the next wave of prospects to be ready (which is no guarantee).
  13. The greatest capitalist holiday of all.
  14. At least he kept you readng to the 11th paragraph. That's pretty impressive.😃
  15. I am ready to see Harris take a chance on a top free agent. I suspect he is risk averse, but he is smart and I trust him to sign the right guy if he does take the plunge. I don't think he would have signed Baez, for example.
  16. He won't get that from anyone.
  17. The wealthy have always been indirectly in charge. Musk is just cutting out the middle man.
  18. I am not defending Biden in this case, but many would see living in prison for life to be worse punishment than the death penalty.
  19. I would guess yes. They were linked to him and he got a one year deal which I think Harris wants for free agent pitchers.
  20. No, that's Goldschmidt. Rizzo is burnt toast which you try to scrape off, but you end up throwing it out.
  21. Another first baseman is on the move tonight - Nate Lowe to the Nationals. He bats left-handed, so he probably wasn't a target of the Tigers. They did get Jordan Balazovic though.
  22. Morgan is the one who comes to my mind too.
  23. Abother example of how politics and morals do not mix well. It's a reality, but also part of the reason I dislike politics.
  24. Yup. That is an epic failure on their part. That's what I tell them when they call me up asking for donations.
  25. Goldschmidt and Santana are gone. Let's go get Rizzo.
