One would think that a programmer/statistician could work forever, but sitting in a chair and typing all day long can take a toll on your body. Worse than that though, you begin to lose it mentally. In my case, I can still get my work done, but it's more difficult to focus and concentrate. Getting back into teaching the last few years has helped give me a break from sitting in the chair all day. It also does not take as much concentration and working with younger people is energizing. Doing both does add up to a lot of hours though! I stll think I can make it until 70 if our university does not get destroyed by budget cuts.

If that's what they want to do, then it's up to them. I don't have any problem with that. Forcing everyone to work into their 80s because you want to take away social security/medicare is a problem. Capitalism is good when people are honest and treat their employees and customers wih respect. The problem is the big guys get too greedy and are solely interested in making a profit and expecting the government to bail them out if things go wrong. A lot of them don't even pay taxes because thy've paid off the government to make tax rules and laws in their favor.

I would be too, but I do not approve of oligarchs making the decisions, nor do I approve of it being done in 100 days (or whatever their ridiculous timeline is).

The Meadows injury is discouraging. He is probably the single most important defender on a team that relies heavily on pitching and he has a lot of upside offensively. A long absence would create a big void in the line-up and decrease their playoff chances significantly.

I didn't say they didn't know what they are doing. They know more than any of us. What I am saying is that if Keith is a capable defender at both positions, then he would have more value at second base. If he is deemed incapable of playing second base, that is disappointing, not because I think they are wrong but because I was hoping he would be a solid 2B. If he doesn't ever hit for the plus power that is generally expected of a first baseman, that would also be disappoining.

I don't really have a personal preference one way or the other, but I will say that if STEM were limited to whilte American males, most organizations would fail miserably.

If he is a minus one win second baseman, then he should not be playing second base. On a pitching centric team which will probably be in a lot of low scoring games, -1 WAR might underestimate how bad he hurts the team. I am not sure he is that. Based on last year, DRS says yes, but statcast says average.
