LOLLL that was joyous

At the high school level they already have something like that. It goes on the officials’ waist and vibrates at 10 seconds and then continuously from 5 to 0, so when it shuts off they know time is up. At the NFL level I’m not sure why they can’t synchronize something like that with the on-field clock so that there is no looking from zero to ball, it’s just looking at ball, feeling vibration, flag.

It feels like the play clock should just have some sort of buzzer associated with it. Not sure why the shot clock in the NBA is treated so vastly differently than the play clock in the NFL. The whole “40 seconds isn’t really 40 seconds” philosophy of giving them extra time between the back judge seeing zero and looking for the snap never made sense to me. I don’t want that to devolve into five reviews per game though, because usually it’s not an issue. Only when they give them an extra two seconds to setup an NFL record field goal against the Lions. The game clock though, that should just be reviewable. If they can look at a play and adjust the game clock accordingly, they should be able to look at a play for the purposes of the game clock and determine that the snap shouldn’t have occurred. Games shouldn’t last 60:01 because that extra second can make a huge difference.

I appreciated that the team wasn’t stubborn about Marvin. Had a bad opener and has fallen off the face of the earth since.

I am interested to see what the offense will look like when Jamo comes back. Intuitively, it feels like he and Gibbs together could be a lethal combination. Either one of them in space has the ability to take it to the house (even though we haven't seen it yet), and defenses can't stifle both threats at once.

I think some of the play-calling in the second half yesterday was intentionally ultra-conservative. We jumped out to such a lead, and our defense was doing such a dominating job, that I think they took a calculated risk that we would in all likelihood win the game if we didn't suffer any catastrophic turnovers. Just run the ball up the gut, we were gashing them on it anyway. It reminds me a little of Michigan's offense against everybody but Ohio State. Why go to page 20 of the playbook if you can beat them on page 2?

I can’t believe I’m going to do a tiny defense of Packers fans here, what are you making me do. But I’m sure if some random fanbase read one of the MTS/MTF game day threads, particularly after a loss, they would think we are terrible sports and just a bunch of morans. I tend to think our board is pretty intelligent, but (along what I just said above about GDTs) the game day thread isn’t really a good microcosm of the fan base. It’s still fun to read that though after a win. I do think that the Packers have a lot of fair weather casual football fans. Now with that out of the way, the Packers suck, Packers fans suck, let’s put up 50 on Thanksgiving. That feels better.

He'll enjoy it today. Back in 2021 me and TP got into a little bit in a GDT when we were the ones getting our asses kicked. Had a good DM conversation afterwards. All GDTs should come with the disclaimer that opinions expressed in the GDT may not be representative of one's true thoughts lol. They are designed for snap reactions and can devolve quickly into a frenzy.

I think Narduzzi is the guy I would want if I was a Spartan. Has built a defense everywhere he’s been.

I think it’s more than just Decker, it’s having Sewell on the right too. Part of the broadcast that stuck with me was the comparison to layups, like asking Sewell, who is so used to right handed layups, to start making left handed layups. I think that’s apt. let’s get healthy over these next ten days. We’ve got a division to win.
