Part of me thinks he should have just shaken hands and made fake apologies like a good little boy… Another part of me gets it. It’s the same part of me that would have been a wise ass to a mall cop and told them to come back with a warrant as a teenager. A coach of a D1 program should probably take the former approach. I don’t think the program actually cares about being holier than thou anymore though. Maybe as an idealistic version of themselves, but they put themselves in the greater world of athletic success > image when they slapped Juwan on the wrist.

20 hours later this remains my first and foremost thought.

Brilliant journalism at work.

Rap tweeted this but if there is an event, it’s private and presumably able to be rescheduled. I don’t know how an NFL venue books an event for the weekend of the Conference Championships unless it comes with a clause that it can be rescheduled if there will be a conference championship played here. I think Detroit and Indy are the two that make the most sense.

A couple pages ago the notion of Santa Ono and Warde Manual allowing Harbaugh and Michigan to lead the charge into the new era of college football was floated. I think a lot of us (myself included) thought of things such as NIL and transfer portal matters that Michigan is well behind on (though catching up). An alternative way of doing that, if he stays, would be for Jim, Warde, and Michigan to help coordinate the effort and lead the charge for the B1G and SEC to disband from the NCAA altogether for the purposes of college football. It’s overdue.

Bacon mentioned the violations in his blogpost from earlier today, but certainly downplayed it as very minor.

The Dolphins are quickly turning into the ranks of the Texans and Jaguars as far as dumb ownership goes. I'd scoop up Mike McDaniel in a heartbeat as an offensive analyst if the Dolphins let him go.

I'll wait to see what the allegations are, but my first general thought is that college football is stupid. I'm pretty sure that that would be my first thought if it was MSU or OSU too.

Ford Field probably is on the short list. They’ve done it before (though not in the playoffs obviously), and are about as close as you’ll get to equidistant from KC and Buffalo in a dome. They’re also guaranteed to not host a playoff game. Other options are probably Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas, and Minneapolis, but those are all a considerable further distance away from one or both clubs, and/or have their own possibility of hosting a Conference Championship. Indianapolis would be a good possibility as well.

If the other party wants to bang their own head against a wall 11+ times in a row, I think you should have some padding in hand, but I would wait for them to ask for it. This fiasco does nothing but harm the GOP. The compromise candidate would probably have to be an R anyway. Though Upton is probably more appealing to Ds now that Trump opened his fat mouth.

I agree. I think it also means this time is different somehow.

He doesn’t have an agent. I’ve been hearing that he’s using John’s agent though to field calls from NFL teams, because if he fields them directly he has to inform Warde.

The 8th seed rumor being floated around would add a whole new wrinkle to playoff possibilities with this game. If it happens, a Seattle win over LA would secure them a playoff berth, and make the Lions/Packers a play-in game. If Seattle loses though, that puts the Packers into the playoffs even with a loss. Would Green Bay rest starters? A Seattle loss would also create a weird situation where a tie puts both the Lions and Packers in the playoffs. How about the Seahawks lose, the Lions win, Packers and Lions run the table, and the Lions host the Packers for the NFC Championship? 😆

For a lot of reasons that have nothing to do with Hamlin or Bills/Bengals, I could absolutely see the NFL adding an 8th seed. They’d love Lions-Packers to be a play-in game on SNF. Assuming they did a straightforward 1v8/2v7/3v6/4v5 without bye weeks, it would also add two full playoff games of revenue.

You can take your smart ideas and go straight to Premier Lax with them. No room in the four major sports for intelligence or simplicity.

If Bo Pelini can get another job despite being an asshole and mediocre, Urban will land somewhere, if he wants to. Just might be closer to the job at Youngstown State that Pelini took than the job at Ohio State he picked up after his “health issues”.

If Corum can secure a six-figure NIL deal, it makes a lot of sense for him to return versus making that as a late-round pick and very possibly flaming out. Come back, be a preseason Heisman favorite, and finish what he started.

At least this is producing quality meme content.

I feel like this is the kind of game Dan Campbell is made for. He’s the kind of coach where if you give him ONE GAME, and say that this ONE GAME is all that matters, he will get 1000% out of his men. That energy can’t necessarily sustain across ten game stretches (see Jets and Panthers), and it doesn’t mean you’ll beat teams that are clearly better (see Bills), but you give him a play-in game, under the lights, with a national audience, I think we will see this team’s best punches, win or lose.
