  1. I agree. If he gets an offer, my inclination is that he goes. He may end up with his choice of destination.
  2. John Bacon is a rare source I trust on Harbaugh. From the point he was hired (which most whiffed on) he has been cautious, but usually correct. I don’t think Michigan would be in a bad spot if he left. I could see them promoting internally with a Mike Hart, Sherrone Moore, or Matt Weiss, and continuing to roll next year.
  3. I don’t want to do this every offseason. It’s bad for recruiting. If he wants to go, he should go.
  4. I think it’s more likely they call it a no contest than a tie. Just have those two clubs have played 16 games and everyone else 17.
  5. I think the Thursday game - and safety surrounding it - will be a point of emphasis for the NFLPA in the next CBA. Without having any stats to support me, it definitely feels like more injuries happen on Thursday Nights than is typical of any given Sunday. I don’t think the NFL will ever do away with a weekday primetime game, but I could see an agreement that expands bye weeks and allows for TNF to be played only by teams that had a bye the prior weekend. Might come with an 18th game and a 2nd bye week, and in the 20-week season teams will have two bye weeks spread between weeks 2-18, allowing for TNF to be played in weeks 3-19.
  6. I am really worried for him. It sounds like he is in a medically induced coma. Nine minutes of CPR is an eternity to go without oxygen being pumped to the brain. Hoping we wake up tomorrow to good news.
  7. Skip is a douche who shouldn’t be on television. That tweet though? He said the quiet part out loud. Not justifying it at all, but I guarantee you those are precisely the thoughts that were running through the minds of NFL execs after this happened. The sense I am getting from Twitter is that the NFL wanted to play - or at least wait and see - and the Bills told them they could shove their game up Roger Goodell’s ass. Good for them.
  8. this is so scary. Crazy how fast we can go from worried about playoff picture to worried about this man’s life.
  9. Since the Seahawks beat the Rams by 4 in week 13, the Rams actually have a better record than the Seahawks (2-2 vs. 1-3). I wouldn’t count the Rams out. I wouldn’t say it’s likely either, but I think McVay and Mayfield would love to eliminate the Seahawks just as much as the Lions would like to eliminate the Packers if that’s how the cards lie. It should be a good game, the Rams won’t just lie down.
  10. If I was a Seahawks fan I’d be pissed, but I really don’t think the Lions knowing that they were or were not eliminated will have any impact on the game’s outcome. This isn’t a team that quit last year while 0-11-1, I don’t see them quitting at 8-8. The only scenario where it might matter is in quirky situations surrounding a tie. If Seattle loses and the Lions/Packers goes to OT then Green Bay would need to win, but Detroit could play for a tie. OTOH, if LA and Seattle tied, then a tie in Green Bay would actually send Seattle (I believe).
  11. Mazi is going to have to split snaps in the NFL anyway, he’s not likely to play on passing downs. They need a run stuffing DT (that Levi was supposed to be).
  12. Spread across a full 17-game season, Houston with his 8 sacks in 6 games would be on pace to break the NFL record set by Strahan and TJ Watt. I guess that's okay for a 6th Round pick.
  13. I don't know if he was "hiding" necessarily. There were seven seconds left and the Bears needed 5-15 yards to setup the field goal without any timeouts, so the alignment was clearly designed to prevent against the quick sideline pass. It's also why we didn't rush them, banking on a quick sideline pass instead of a deep shot. It was a smart defensive play. Clearly Fields didn't see Hutch there, so I guess he was hidden in that regard.
  14. I don't think the team's game plan will change in the slightest based on the results of the Seahawks game. I do think we will be slotted to SNF.
  15. As I sit here today, my ideal (that will likely change a million more times before April) is probably something like: 1a: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State 1b: Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama 2a: Jack Campbell, ILB, Iowa 2b: Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan 3: Jarrett Patterson, OG, Notre Dame 5: Jay Ward, DB, LSU 6a: Stetson Bennett, QB, Georgia 6b: Jake Moody, K, Michigan Along with another high-priced addition to the secondary in free agency and some cheaper depth additions across the board.
  16. I wouldn't be surprised if they did it, if they think Bijan Robinson is the next athletic freak of nature for that position. I think they would have seriously considered taking Pitts at 7 if he were there in 21.
  17. I agree. I think they are probably looking at either the top corner on their board, a Myles Murphy type DT (not as dominating as Jalen Carter/Will Anderson, but hey Aaron Donald was picked 13th), or plausibly the top RB if they think they are the next big thing.

  19. Hadn't seen this. Maybe they should void that game.... just don't count it for anyone.....
  20. I don't think Anderson will be there at this point. He was a pipe dream athletic freak you could hope fell into your lap, but I'm certainly not going to complain if Houston/Hutch is the one-two punch of the future, if they continue this level of productivity. I think they will do their due diligence on QBs, but not feel pressured to take one. Which is appropriate.
  21. It’s possible. I don’t think it would be the worst thing in the world if we ran it back with Swift and Jamaal. When fully healthy, this was probably a good enough offense to go 12-5 and win the North with just a league average defense. And that’s without Jamo, who could seriously be one of the most explosive players in the league next season. I can certainly understand the rationale behind saying this draft should be defense, defense, defense. If they value Bijan Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs highly though, it wouldn’t shock me at all to see them take one in the 1st Round. As simplistic as it sounds, I think the front office values talent, wherever they can find it (and they seem to have a good knack for seeing it). It’s why they made the move to go get Jamo, it’s why they took multiple defensive linemen in 2021. If you can find 4+ talented players in any given draft, you’re well on your way to building a talented team within three years. More importantly than drafting or not drafting a Running Back is that you get an Alvin Kamara, Christian McCaffery, or Derrick Henry if you do, instead of Kerryon Johnson, Ameer Abdullah, Mikel Leshore, or Jahvid Best.
  22. I wouldn’t count that chicken yet. It was good to see vintage Swift, but I’m not sure that one solid performance at home against a team with a terrible defense that is 3-13 is indicative of sustained success. 7 carries for 31 yards against the Vikings the first time around, 5 carries for 6 yards against the Dolphins and 5 carries for 19 yards against the Bills all stick out to me. Those are three games where he was active, lost by a collective 11 points, any one of which could have been a win with a stronger and more consistent rushing attack.
  23. I think the Rams have a real shot at beating the Seahawks. The Seahawks aren't that good, and the Rams have nothing to lose and everything to gain by shutting their divisional rival out of the playoffs. I think that both the Packers and Lions are both better than any of the Vikings, Bucs, Giants, Seahawks, and Commanders right now. It's why you have to win games like the first Minnesota game, the Miami game, and the Seattle game though (not a complaint).
